really sad that little things like that get you all riled up

Those two guys get pretty overworked sometimes, I have to say. Ice hockey sportscasters only have to cast for like 2-3 hours or so, twice a week. Tastosis casts for like 5 hours, sometimes twice a day!!

- For those complaining about taking sides, this will happen no matter the game or sport. Commentators in sports that do not have personal relations with the players almost always take sides, and that's a fact. Don't believe me? Watch some NHL, NFL, NBA or almost anything really and you will notice the commentators will usually lean on one team or player more than the other. And remember tasteosis are friends and play with many of the players they cast, which makes it ever more probable to pick a side.
- Everyone likes different things from commentators, pleasing everyone is impossible.
- I would put money down saying both of these guys know more about the game and builds, etc than most of you every will. They have played at high levels for a long time, and have watched countless games.
- It's hard not to call a premature GG and what not, when you see someone coming with a scary push or whatever the case may be, you think the same thing in your head. "OMG is this it?, etc" They, being commentators are supposed to say what they think about the game, it's their job to give their opinions and tell us/ analyze whats going on.
- They are not analytical machines, they will make mistakes from time to time because they cannot telepathically read the players minds.
- Yes, they do miss the occasional cancel or drop or w.e. but really! They are human, and in doing this for countless hours a day, shit happens.
For my take on improvements they could make, it would only be to research the players a little more so we know more about the unknowns and less popular players.
I don't understand the majority of your post. This is a thread about FEEDBACK for them. Are you suggesting that we're acting incorrectly by providing FEEDBACK to our favorite casting duo in a FEEDBACK thread? Again, I'd like to reiterate that this is a FEEDBACK THREAD in which players are invited to provide their FEEDBACK. I suppose the main scope of his post is that, sure give feedback. But some feedback stems out of legitimate mistakes that comes from being humans. So there definitely are things to improve upon and give feedback. However, it's no use if the feedback section consists of jumping down Tasteosis's throat if they make a slip up.
Thank you for agreeing, it's really quite frustrating how many people bashing and trolling.

No 'bard' sang that. The Egyptian proverb goes "Speech is silver; silence is golden'.
It doesn't really apply here does it? You can have all the silence you want by muting the sound. They are commentators - their job is to commentate. Good commentators keep a steady and continuous pace, their job is to always find good things to say.
But you were just being facetious weren't you? Aww... how cute. Goochie-goochie-goo!

This post has no place on an unpopular website devoted to the worship of a video game most popular in a country on the other side of the world. Your opinion is supremely hypocritical simply because of the vehicle you conveyed it by.
I think Tastetosis are tremendously overworked. During the ro64 they cast for 8 hours a day or more. No other caster in any other sport or hobby has that demanded of them.

i think you should stop complaining about other people complaining.
they have a right to voice their opinion. this is a feedback thread after all, or maybe we should rename the thread to "Tastosis Praise'd" or something since clearly any form of criticism doesnt sit comfortably with you.

Tips for controller the observing computer:
-Holding down alt shows HP bars -Pressing 1 or 2 shows that player's perspective of the game (shows the parts of the map they can see, and if player camera (shortcut "C") is on it shows the screen as they see it). Pressing E will show everybody's (both player's) view. **This way you don't have to select someone's unit to switch to their vision
I would add to this that if you dbl-click 1 or 2, it will actually follow the player's camera, although I doubt this would be useful often, if ever, in casting. Just saying
As for feedback, I *love* this casting duo. Great stuff all around. Artosis has some very insightful analysis, and if it's occasionally biased, it's not like he's trying to hide the fact he play's Zerg, so most people should be able to process his statements and draw their own conclusions, rather than take his authoritative, almost arrogant statements as gospel. And for the record, I think that style of his is badass.
Towards the end of S2, I was beginning to tire of Tasteless literally parroting everything Artosis said without adding/changing the phrasing even, but the guy was practically dying of the plague, and I know how fuzzy my head feels when I'm even a little bit sick. He's much better in S3.
These guys are downright hilarious. During some downtime at the start of a match when they go off about the cafe on metalopolis and how you can get a sandwich and soda pop for 5 bucks.... Golden.
I would like to see the production tab up as a standard. As others have said, I like to see the occasional switch to resource or APM or whatever they happen to be noting a the time, but a quick return to production allows the viewer to have a better grasp of the overall game since we can't pan around the screen at will. Which leads me to my final point...
I have noticed myself straining to see the grainy minimap a few times because I see some blue dots moving into the red dots, meanwhile we're watching marines popping out of a barracks 1 at a time. I understand there's a lot going on, and you guys are trying to not only watch it all, but keep up some meaningful commentary at the same time, but this is probably (I'm making an assumption here) the most universal complaint people could have. If someone doesn't like your style of... talking... well to each his/her own I suppose, but keeping the camera on the action is fundamental to any good cast.
All that said.... Heartosis and Heartasteless! You guys are awesome, keep it up!!
|
Artosis is so damn biased ( towards Z )... other than that I have no complaints!
|
One more thing, it was so funny yesterday when Tasteless was saying "oohhh this worker, what's he going to do now???" and Artosis said "err... scout?"
<3333

The only thing I don't like about tasteless is that he tends to repeat what artosis just said word by word, and that everything is "really really awesome, such high level, ..." you know what I mean, rather say something meaningful and spare those phrases for awesome moments and don't say it like ten times before the game even started.
And the "hetero life partner" thing sounds pretty gay :D
But besides that I like it very much.

"Silence is golden" as some bard once sang. hey bud if they're that bad at commentating how about you stop watching? really sad that little things like that get you all riled up "Little"? Roflmao. Audio / comments is half the game or more. You can make or break a match by that and some commentators are awesome for just their awesome style of commentating and not their knowledgable insight. Watch TotalBiscuit commentating some games to see what I mean.
Artosis and Tasteless are supposed to be very knowledgable due to their experience, but what do we get? Silly jokes, buddy talk and one commentator who always agrees with the other. Is that really it? Personally I think the two of them are not funny except in the sense of "I am half-drunk and my brain stopped working properly so I find everything funny". Especially when Tasteless is in his "I repeat whatever my good friend Artosis says"-mode it gets really ridiculous. GOM should replace Tasteless with someone else ... anyone ... or at least reduce him to controlling the camera. A commentating duo *should* have some discussion most of the time and not one being the "slave" and agreeing with the other most of the time.
The problem with the "commentating archon" is made clear by a quote from the LotR movies, because they definetely "feel stretched, like butter over too much bread". Overexposure and no change in style can ruin everything. How much of the GSL can you watch? I am "lucky" enough to be able to watch most of it (90%+).
I really hate these guys who always say "if they're that bad at commentating how about you stop watching?", because the answer to that question is kinda braindead. They can be good at commentating, but many times they (mostly Tasteless parroting) screw it up and drag the quality down to "half-drunk-funny" level of humor. So I keep watching because I am an optimist who hopes for improvement, but is disappointed most of the time. Personally I would love for the two to value NOT saying something for a minute or so when a game is boring instead of trying to come up with funny jokes to fill the time. That and a rotation of commentators would be a big improvement.

So um....Artosis just says Choa has "no brain". Biased much?

I think they're freaking bad lately. I really hope they stop flaming players who do bad decision. Ok this is round of 64, sometime players aren't the best in the world but you two casters didnt even qualified, what about you show some respect to these players. They are so unprofessional. I hope they somehow get fired and DJWHEAT gets a divorced or move his family to korea along with day9 and these 2 professionals gentlemen replace artosis and tasteless.

Artosis : called a pro gamer "brainless" in the middle of a match on live TV, in addition to being biased as hell.
This won't go unnoticed with gom-management.

I agree on the bias that the two commentators hold towards foreigners but I think it's justified in a way.
I've been impressed however with artosis and his ability to pinpoint exactly what the players are going for. It REALLY demonstrates the fact that he isn't just a random commentator but someone who knows the game.
Tasteless commentates like he's only a supplement to artosis. He need to step it up more.
