I don't know, skill has always mattered more to me than ranking in any game. In Halo 2 if I could carry a level 30 team, I wasn't good enough to be ranked 30, imo. I really want to be good at this game, for some reason. If for no other reason than to show these people who say it takes "natural talent" to be a high level player of this game. I argue that these people conveniently ignore the hundreds of hours of practice people put into these games to be good at them. It's no different than Jordan. People look at him and say "freakish athlete, best basketball player ever." They ignore the thousands of hours he spent shooting all around the court, perfecting his game. They ignore that he was told he was too short for his varsity team... I mean, listen to his HOF speech, he tells it all. I hate this idea that only people with natural talent make it to the top. It's true that some people have an easier time being great at something than others--they're more naturally skilled, but it's complete bullshit that a person that isn't supremely gifted for something can't rise to the top.

And I agree with your last paragraph entirely, Lemons. @ Hizzo: Yeah, the 1-50 rank system would be nice. Edit: Another thing I hate about the Rating system is that it kinda takes away teamwork. It makes it so that K/D ratio is the most important thing. People aren't afraid to let teammates die to get kills for themselves. Ranked games shouldn't reward being an asshole who only cares about personal achievement; it should be about working together as a fucking team. Too bad people are naturally selfish and most people who play Halo at a non-competitive level don't understand the concept of working together as a group.

I never played matchmaking after discovering MLG customs, so I never ranked up on new gamertags (I always used the free trials from new games.) The name I ended up sticking with on Xbox was "a level one nub", and now on 360 it's "a level two nub" because I couldn't recover the old one The only emblem I've ever used is the number 1 or 2, white face with black border, and a light blue circular background.

Ferrose, that's why you have to play customs. This is way off topic, but I was looking at bungie's site to see if I could still pull H2 stats (nope), and I saw this explanation for Oni: Featuring a responsive and innovative control scheme, and a character with the flexibility to match, Oni is still one of the sharpest, most compelling 3rd person action games on any system. That's one of the worst reviewed games I've seen in my life. Most ratings I saw for it gave it a 1.5/5.

The only thing that remotely matters is your Arena score, but that's hardly indicative of skill either; I've pulled average ratings of 1600+ on Team Arena, but hover closer to 1400, which is supposed to be a middle of the road player I guess, but I'm absolutely not at that level (bottom 1/3rd currently, imo). A lot of the Arena ranking depends on who you're playing against. If you're consistently getting 1500-1600 but it's against iron players, you're not that great, but if you're hitting those numbers against onyx players you are really good. It's actually a lot like the SC2 ranking system (a 2000 bronze player is not the same as a 2000 diamond player), only instead of accumulating rank points you can directly see your MMR.

Thanks for that, though. I found my other account that I used to grind with. http://www.bungie.net/stats/playerstatshalo2.aspx?player=j33zusjuice&ctl00_mainContent_bnetpgl_recentgamesChangePage=1 I was off on the time period, I guess. 465 games in three months. That's a lot of games... I guess my friends found out about this account before I thought they had, because I started playing with them way earlier on that account than I remember. The first five pages are pretty much all HC, and then they found out about the account, so I started playing gay shit again. Whatever, good times, and I loved that name. OMG... I'm looking through my old H2 games right now, because I have nothing better to do, and I stumbled upon two games, both on lockout... both 4v4 Slayer. The first started out with my team beating the other team pretty well. We were up 18-11, had map control, we were about to take over the game, and the host stopped the game. It was for some complete bullshit reason. We relaunched and we lost 50-40, I went like 4-15 in the second game. I was so mad, my team was pissed because I played like shit in the second game, but we had completely lost map control and our communication was poor, at best. Ugh, so lame. After reviewing those games, I think I was looking at my H2 playing days with some pretty rosy nostalgia glasses on. I went massively negative in most of those custom games... I started to get better at the game though, and I absolutely surpassed my friends... but I guess I sucked at that game too, I was just more involved in the community I guess, so I remember it differently than it was.

Just added the K/D from all my different accounts I had in Halo 2, and the grand totals come to 34120 Kills and 26769 Deaths.

I dont fully understand the health bar though, sometimes when you get hit then hide, some of it regenerates (or may be it s just me). Forge seems alslo better even though i haven t tried much of it yet

Forge seems alslo better even though i haven t tried much of it yet If it's high enough, it will regenerate. But if your health is too low, you need to find a health pack. Edit: From IGN's review of this game: The best new addition? Armor abilities. These are an evolution of the equipment found in Halo 3 and drastically change the way you play in their updated form. These temporary but reusable extra abilities add things like sprinting, jet packs, and invincible armor to the franchise for the first time. The result is a faster, more acrobatic game that affords the player more flexibility in how they'd like to approach each fight. Also, jet packs are awesome. How did we go without them this long? God, I hate it when achievements aren't worth a multiple of five. -_- Not to mention, 50 Gamerscore for a DMR kill at long range? lolwut Edit: Anyone up for some Reach tonight/this weekend? Gamertag is Ferrose, if you don't know.
