Only real downside is it makes jet-packing impossible, but I never use anything besides evade or sprint.

Only thing they should change is the time when armor lock becomes effective, it should only be effective when the person actually turns that glittery white color, not when the person is going into it. Depends on how you're using armor lock. If you're using it just to block grenades and rockets, then it's a great ability to have in close quarters like Zealot. Other than that, it's just plain annoying as you're really prolonging your death. Other than that I'd stick to sprint. I like Reach a lot. Teamwork is more evident in this one than any other Halo. xbl: i OhNoes i

AL just makes the game gimmicky, imo. So does the almost unlimited invisible usage. I found out this weekend that I'm REALLY bad at this game... Frankly, to make a Starcraft metaphor: armor lock is the Void Ray of Halo: Reach. Bad players will hate it forever and think its impossible, and perhaps, purely for them, it will eventually get a nerf-- maybe its easier to use than it is to defeat. Like the Void Ray, it might also be overpowered in a few very specific situations at the pro-level that don't affect a majority of players, ever. The few "nerfs" it might "need": For Armor Lock, the animation needs to be changed so that its clearly EXACTLY when you can hit them and when you can't. This is something of a learn to play issue, as you can learn when they can be shot and get the timings and such, but it appears to be just a bit too hard overall for other players to deal with. But at a high level of play the disadvantages of taking armor lock over sprint or jet pack are SO breathtakingly obvious. It's easy to become separated from your team. You have NO method of escaping a bad situation, just delaying the inevitable in the hopes a team member comes to your rescue. In Arena, most of the time I go with sprint, as I find it blatantly the best ability. You basically give up some map control whenever you don't have sprint. On some maps, jet pack works for the same purpose, with other limitations to make up for its obvious benefits. I only use Armor Lock when my team proves itself to be very, very good. In that situation, you use it to tank. Be the first to run in, get focus-fired, armor lock, pop out hopefully before your team loses. Even in this, the best situation to use it in, its fairly balanced; while you're armor-locked, your team is down a player. Sure, you temporarily dodged death, but in many situations: your team loses a 3v2 while you armor lock, and then when you come out you're instantly killed 3v1. In FFA and objectives, armor lock means you die less, but kill less. Less total points. Less credits. I'm still super disappointed that MLG hasn't allowed loadouts. Power-ups just aren't as cool. I really think that they're meant to add strategy and team-work to the game and would make it much more exciting to spectate. Only real downside is it makes jet-packing impossible, but I never use anything besides evade or sprint. I've always used Green thumb, but I switched to default Halo: Reach controls. I played with green thumb for a bit, and then I decided to google it, and read an interview where the Reach guys explain why they made the default control scheme what it is-- and I was convinced. Everything you need to hit fast is on the triggers with default. Also, bumper jumper was great in Halo 3, but they toned down the importance of jumping SO much in Reach that the move of Armor Abilities to a face button really isn't worth it imho.

Although, I practically never stick people, but I win most of my melee battles.

And Sprint and Evade are the best abilities. You know why? Mobility. Mobility is the biggest advantage you can have in a fight.

Makes me feel like I'm playing a bad quake/UT when I should be playing a GOOD Halo. Some have been pushing for evade in MLG playlists so that worries me.

I disagree with armor abilities being more important than jumping, but then again it's all relative to play style. Edit: By armor abilities, I mean not sprint or evade.
