Dark announced through Twitter/X that he will be beginning his military service on May 13th.
"Hello, my friends I’m starting my military service on May 13 I’ve been truly happy thanks to all of you
I’ve always loved how passionate you’ve been whenever I played in overseas tournaments
I hope we can meet again someday Thank you so much"

Good luck Daddy Dark. Hope there is still a scene to come back to in 2y.

Dark was not the best Zerg, but he was the most iconic Zerg imo.

My favorite player to watch and one of the most consistently strong players of all time. Won't be the same without him.

Always a threat. The very best in dire situations and comeback scenarios, perhaps even ahead of Maru. Take care, king.

Good. He can go in during the roots movement and come out when SC2 is thriving again. GL Dark!

Absolutely love, love that he was going through the last six months in a semi-washed state waiting for military service, but still got up for a random 4-3 win over Serral in PiG Festival during his retirement week.

My favorite part of Dark's last showing at PiGsty 6 was that he was close to being 2-0'ed by Astrea, after having played hilariously poor openings, complete with misbuilt overlords, only to somehow win the second game anyway and proceed to become 1st in the whole group. A classical Dark move.
gg!

I wonder how long he's known haha, given how excruciating it was for us to wait, I'm sure it must have been 10x worse for him, not knowing whether to practice hard again or not.
My favorite player and probably the most inimitable player on the scene, with an unbelievable ability to play out every conceivable (and inconceivable) win condition, whether it be off 90 drones or 9, with pure lair tech or two spellcasters and five hotkeys, with hair-raisingly decisive attacks or scrappy base trades; you just never knew with Dark. All you knew was that he played to make the game messy, because nobody could outplay Dark when he was behind haha.
I remember his baneling drops vs Stats in SSL in 2016, his ultralisk counterattacks in early LoTV (including vs ByuN on King Sejong), his debut of roach-based macro ZvT vs Taeja in 2019 or so, and *that one basetrade* vs Innovation. Then his ZvZ camping that regularly stumped Reynor and Rogue; his ZvT dedicated counterattacks that crippled Clem, Byun, and Maru over and over and over; his ZvP infestor queen ultra experiments that he developed with Rogue against Zest and herO. There was nothing Dark didn't eventually figure out an answer for, even if the answers weren't always the community-accepted ones.
What a treat to have been his fan. Looking forward to his return
