Really? Delta-epsilon was on our math placement exam (at least knowing the definition in general, not using it much). I took Honors Calculus first year (gave up my AP credits to take it too, fml) and by end of the first week if you didn't have a good understanding of how to use delta-epsilon proofs you were going to fail. The class was mostly physics and math majors, but I'm an econ major and I still consider delta-epsilon a pretty basic concept.
