i dont think there are worse parents. I think there are equally bad parents. But worse? No. Psychological trauma is a psychological trauma, i really dont think for a child this feels any better then his dad touching his peepee. Same abandonment and betrayal.
lol?
how can you compare sexual abuse of a child to lying about an xbox?
Not even the same ball park bud.
edit: yes it was still fucked up though.
how do you know if its in the same ball park or not? logically to me right now it wouldnt bother me if somebody touched my peepee but it would bother me if someone pranked me like that. But this isnt logically and this isnt me. And it isn't you. So you do have no ability to know how it makes a child feel. This is the on the highest level of fucked up where there are no smaller scales to measure fucked up by. The only difference is if youve been molested people will help you. If THIS fucks you up people will tell you to get over yourself and laugh at you.
So if it doesn't bother you if someone touches your no-no place, it doesn't bother anyone else? Is this what lead you to compare those two things? I have to say your comparison is pretty outrageous.
On topic: Maaaaan, I tend to laugh at fucked up shit like this but I just couldn't. He looked genuinely sad, no crying out loud screaming, he just didn't say anything lol.

It could be a funny prank if pulled correctly, but the boy is too young for that. The parents should have understood that he's genuinely hurt instead of continuing to laugh at him crying. Assholes.
How is an 8-yr old supposed to know how much an X-Box should weigh?
You can tell the kid is really wounded by the whole thing. He's not even having a tantrum, you know? It's not just waaagghh I didn't get what I wanted. When the mom says "we can't afford an X-Box" just confirms for me what a shit thing it was to do. I thought at the kid's initial reaction when the paper came off that he was thinking the same thing. I bet you anything he'd been asking for one and been told it was out of the question. Look at his face, he's stunned and he looks up at mom like he's looking for confirmation that it's really what looks like and mom just helps him open it. So he opens this box and sees they somehow managed to afford one you know like mom and dad must have busted their asses to get me this thing aren't they awesome... and then it's clothes...who wouldn't be disappointed? And then, to top it off, they think your pain is funny. And you can hear mom going "we couldn't afford one", "we told you we were getting you clothes..what did you think it was?" WTF do you mean what did I think it was? I thought it was an X-Box, bitch.
And holy hell "look in the camera and cry". I feel so awful for this kid. It's so obvious that he's not crying because it's not an X-Box. The stare just kills me. It's like he's waiting for them to give up the joke and apologize. And even when it's obvious their little joke has gone horribly wrong they just keep laughing and leave the room and leave him there to cry. And he's trying so hard not to.
These are the kinds of things that stick with you. Maybe it's not comparable to physical abuse but it's still really hurtful. You don't play with a child's emotions like that. So not funny.

can anyone make out what the kid says when he first opens it?
Eh, it was just a christmas present, I don't see why everyone is flipping out? Come on, sure he was crushed but I wouldn't go as far to say this is "fucked up" and that they are "sick parents" with a psychological condition. From the looks of it there were quite a few other gifts. Not to mention, the box wasn't empty, it did have clothes which while much less fun than an xbox, was still something.
There are much worse things that can happen on christmas than being juked out of an xbox. Hey little Timmy, I'm sorry to tell you but your mom was killed in a car accident this morning, merry christmas.
There are much worse parents that abuse their kids or force them to do things unfair as opposed to this... this is nothing.

seriously? at least this kid got something? he got clothes. its just that the parents gave him false expectations.
what about the kids who get hit by their parents every day, left to starve, ordered to work, molested by family, etc.
im also hoping that the family actually gave him an xbox later on or they are complete douchebags
They deliberately hurt his feelings and then laughed at him and posted it on Youtube. It's not even so much the fact that they pranked him but that they mocked him far past the point where it was obvious he wasn't amused. It's a huge breech of trust. Maybe not to the extent of physical abuse/neglect but it's still appalling. Also, who's to say this kind of treatment isn't a regular occurrence in that house?
Wow, I cant wait for the day when that kid has the option to take care of his parents in their old age or just throw them in a shitty nursing home. I can see it now clear as day...
Kid hands parents the key
parents get totally excited and tell them how much they love him for taking them in when they are in need..
Kid laughs hysterically and points across the street at a run down roach ridden nursing home and starts laughing his ass off.

It's pretty astounding how grateful he was, saying "thank you" a bunch of times and hugging his parents around 3 times LOL

Sounds like he's had health problems and been in the hospital. I bet he's grown up hearing his parents fret about money and knows that he is the reason they can't afford things. Did you notice him run off to his room and then try to give his dad his savings? *wibble*
