"The Official video to 'Lights Out' by Rick Astley. Rick returns with his first single for 17 years. The video was shot at the Manchester Evening News Arena and was directed by British Comedian Peter Kay. The song was written by Andrew Frampton and Rick Astley." (as taken from the video description)
Rick Astley internet sensation, unintentional creator of the "Rickroll" is back all grown up to start a new musical career with a new sound (thank the internet and all it's glory).
Anyways he's back to bring us GOOD MUSIC. I'm quite a fan of this song and hope that you can think of Rick in a new light after this.
Edit:This is all I could find through Google news at the moment, he's also working on composing more songs and becoming a somewhat legitimate musician.
Not really my type of music at all, but I still kinda like it. Excellent use of his random internet fame to make a comeback, haha. I hope he does well. Video makes me dizzy though. D=
I wouldnt say good music per say but I can see how easily this could get radio airplay its very similar to many of the top 40 radio friendly songs. Its much less cheesy than his 80s hits but that was his appeal his cheesiness. Maybe after some time this kind of music will be seen as cheesy as his 80s hits.
I'm honestly really fucking impressed. He was reluctant at first but now he's acknowledged the incredible potential that anonymous boards and internet culture have given him. Its inspirational that someone who has been out of the lime light for so long has been given the power to come back with a vengeance thanks to internet communities.
I'm impressed with how seriously he (and obviously his team) are taking this. The sound is very contemporary and not just a rehash of his stuff from the 80's. I hope this does well, he's better than the fucking rubbish they play on the radio that's for sure.
I've always like his song "Never gonna give you up" and I was never sure why everyone made fun of it lol. This new song isn't bad, it's alright. Too much spinning in the video! The song sounds like Ronan Keating and Cold play mixed together or something
