Ok, so this list was extremely hard to create. I had a really, really hard time finding films I enjoyed that were commonly disliked. Realistically, only a couple on my list really fit the bill. The rest that I list are usually closer to a split, but I'll put down enough that I'm sure you'll think I suck now. I also want to be unequivocal about something; the movies I list are not what I would ever call "great", but simply movies that I enjoyed where many did not.
Pootie Tang I imagine a lot of people haven't actually seen this film. It's a silly movie about a black music artist who speaks gibberish that everybody in the world loves... except the corporations because he's pushing clean living on the kids. I really didn't like this movie the first time I saw it but I ended up catching it again a few days later and found myself laughing at the jokes after the movie had been over. Whether it's the scene where the DJ goes nuts over the new Pootie Tang song that is nothing but silence or him slapping people with his weed belt.
Death to Smoochy I love this movie to death. hah, get it? Sorry. Anyways, this is a movie that I, to this day, do not understand why so many people hated it. Even many of my friends think I'm crazy for liking it. This one is hard to piece together why I find it so funny, but it just is.
Johnny Mnemonic Yes, Keanu couldn't act then and he can't act now. That didn't stop me from enjoying the shit out of this movie. Ice-T? Check. Dolph Lundgren? Check. Henry Rollins? Check. Nerds everywhere love Ghost in a Shell but choose to hate on Johnny M? Screw the haters. Long live this ridiculous film. I would suggest that Keanu considers an upgrade. His 320gigs of storage upstairs aint worth shit when I can buy an tb harddrive for cheap as shit.
Waterworld / The Postman I put them both here because they garner equal scorn from most places. The villains in both movies are fantastic. Dennis Hopper is awesome in everything he did (yes, even Super Mario Brothers. He just wanted his damn pizza) and Will Patton has always been an underrated actor. Maybe I just have a hardon for Kevin Costner too. I remember watching Prince of Thieves like 100 times when I was young. I've seen them both too many times to not feel ashamed that I'll still watch it if it's on TV or streaming if I'm bored.
Judge Dredd Seeing how far Stallone can unhinge his jaw to yell or grimace alone is still worth the price of admission if this were showing nearby. Not as awesome as Demolition Man (one of my favorite movies), but still worthwhile.
The Phantom Menace Allow me to clear up something right away. Jake Lloyd sucked gigantic balls, but whatever. I think I was the only person in the world who didn't care about Jarjar. So there's a stupid CGI character who jumps around the screen like a retard. Have you heard Duel of the Fates or seen Darth Maul? Yeah, that's what I thought, dick.
Batman Forever Tommy Lee Jones, Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey, and Nicole Kidman (I excluded O'Donnell. Fuck that guy). Yes, it is inferior to the Batman Begins series and Burton's original 2 but you would be surprised at how well this film still holds up. It's no longer the dark and dreary batman but instead you get a world filled with colorful scenes and colorful characters that is stark in contrast to the original 2.
How to Rob a Bank I know the overwhelming majority of you will not have seen this movie. This one makes me scratch my head. I had never heard of it until one morning I was bored on justin.tv and happened to catch a channel showing it. The people were hating on it for the duration and I honestly couldn't figure out why. It reminds me of the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry thinks he has found the perfect love but all of his friends think she's a loser. I can not get why people hate this movie. I think it moves a little slow at times and perhaps gives itself too much credit... but the thing is whopping 17% on Rottentomatoes.
Just for good measure here are some others that I enjoy that many people seem to dislike as well:
Mr. Deeds, Joe Dirt, The Terminal, Point Break, Grease, Natural Born Killers, American Beauty, Great White Hype, Independence Day, Hook, Punch Drunk Love, and Footloose.

EVERYONE I KNOW LOVES THAT MOVIE.
People hate on independence day all the time. Hell, even I do. But I still love it as a movie. Bill Pullman's speech at the end of the movie is so cheesy that it's delicious to my ears and I always smile. I almost didn't put Grease on the list but I'd say adding any musical runs the risk of being hated by many.

most people i know like it meh
I wouldnt include grease, cause that movies like..an american classic
I agree that the soundtrack for Phantom Menace is earcandy. Haven't seen many of the films listed in the OP, as I normally check IMDB before watching a movie unless I'm blindly renting a movie with a few friends.
