Joining this pre-match interview is one of the generals and commanders of T1's european legion, PoP(Zapp!Bang!Boom!) SKT ended up 3rd in the regular season and will be facing CJ in their first PO match. The other possibility was to play WeMade instead. Are you satisfied that things went out that way? Did you originally preferred one opponent over the other ?
PoP : I do actually prefer the way things went, even though Oz 3-0’ing MBC in the last match was something nobody seemed to expect. WeMade Fox has been one quite scary team this season. Granted, none of their players seem to be in the form of their life, nor in a very impressive streak--even Baby, who was basically crushing everything on his way a few weeks back, hasn’t been doing too well lately. But still: RorO, Shine, Pure, Baby, Mind, Midas, (even) NaDa have all taken active part in their team’s superb season so far and that’s more depth than almost all of the other left teams, including CJ.
But the real reason I believe it’s a better match for SKT--and I know you’ll agree with me on this one--is that most of these players are Terran. Outside of T1’s so-called FBB (Fantasy-Bisu-BeSt) combo, the rest of the team would have really high chances to drop games to any of these Terrans. This would be fine during the regular season, but in a playoff match this actually can mean a couple of autolosses. We don’t have to worry about that too much against CJ: apart from Iris, none of their active players looks any good in TvZ. Especially not sKyHigh.
What do you think about the new PO format? Is it better than the old Super Ace?
PoP : It’s definitely better. Super Ace was a terrible idea, really. The current format is a lot more fair, while still giving teams second chances even if they happen to have a bad day, which I believe is a great thing when you realize they’ve practiced several months for just getting there. This is just like tennis, you can lose the first set 4-0 (6-0) and still be able to pull yourself together and come back if you have enough mental strength for it. I like it a lot. It keeps all the good elements from last PL, while getting rid of the worst one.
Share you thoughts about the map poll. Was it a good choice to bring back Outsider and HBR for the PO?
PoP : It definitely makes sense. The playoffs wraps up the entire PL season, including earlier rounds and Winner League. You have to expect to see the maps that were used throughout all these rounds. As for what I think of these maps--I don’t really have a strong opinion on them to be honest. A lot of them have been great and/or balanced, some of them a little less so. The only thing I’m a little disappointed about is how Outsider has been removed by teams in both of this round’s playoff matches. This is a map I’ve enjoyed watching games on a lot, it’s fun and dynamic and balanced. Hopefully we see some of it in the later rounds!
Both CJ and SKT are coming in this match after a strong performance in the last round of PL. Who do you think has the edge, who is the favorite? (way to ask the same questions as flamewheel)
PoP : Apart from EffOrt, who will definitely be very tough to beat no matter the circumstances/matchup/whatever, if SKT can avoid their other top players’ best matchups (especially Skyhigh and Snow’s vT’s), they should be fine. They only have two active Terrans (Fantasy and Canata) so this is not very likely to happen though. In any case, with HyuK and s2 in shape, I do believe T1 has a lot more depth going for them.
Make your predictions
PoP : T1 to win 2 sets to 1. Just a gut feeling though. 2-0 would be possible as well, as well as 2-1 for CJ if T1 gets very unlucky with the matchups twice or has a bad day. The only result I’m confident will not happen is 2-0 in favor of CJ.
Are we crowning the last PL champion of BroodWar now? How do you see the future of professional SC1?
PoP : I sure fucking hope not. This would be a huge mistake for whoever ends up taking the decision to ditch it--unless this is decided by the fans or the players themselves, obviously, but that will just not happen. Actually, I don’t see any reason for BW and SC2 not to coexist, at least until one of them ends up naturally getting a decisive edge over the other.
My personal opinion? BW progaming should and will not die anytime soon, because it’s just a more brilliant game in almost every regard, both from a player and a spectator viewpoint. This is as simple as that.
Thank you for your time ! Last words ?
PoP : T1 is coming for you, KT. You better prepare your asses off--no one’s going to go easy on you on August 7th!

Well okay, I'll post my predictions again !
That's gonna be tight. CJ is the hardest Team for SKT. It really depends on who the coaches will send. It can be a one sided Win for both SKT and CJ.
SKT favored : Fantasy > Movie Best > sKyHigh Bisu vs EffOrt or SKT can guess CJ will send EffOrt on this game and send a sacrifical lamb or a vZ sniper, but the result is unpredictible. Hyuk > Snow
Easy win for SKT, I cant see Snow beat Hyuk who made the ro16 in both SL, or sKyHigh win a TvP. And SKT zergs can be good snipers ( s2 just beat JD ). And Bisu has shown amazing PvZ recently and can beat EffOrt if he plays well.
CJ favored : Movie > s2 sKyHigh > Fantasy Snow < Bisu Iris > Hyuk EffOrt > Best Easy 4-1 for CJ, I cant see Best beating EffOrt, or Hyuk beating Iris lol.
That's because of all these 1 or 2 match up players... (Snow, Skyhigh, Best, ...) I would not be suprised to the first scenario for day 1, and the second scenario for day 2 haha
Anywayz, SKT FIGHTING !!!!!!!!

I admit Hyuk has a good momentum, and we all love to say "Hyuked!" after his wins, but I don't think his ZvT is that good. And T1 zergs are quite interchangeable lol. In my CJ favored case, it could be as well Movie beats Hyuk, and Iris beats s2.
I think the keys for a CJ favored case are giving Movie a PvZ, and Skyhigh a TvT. Snow has a great PvT too but his other match up are very shaky.

i dont think movie is likely to beat hyuk. i dont know if hyuk is more likely to beat iris than to lose, but he has beaten better players and more often too, so i cant say that 'i cant see' it happening
