Kim Taek Yong - Master of Knives
In these brutal days of StarCraft there are champions, but there are not heroes. Flash, the ultimate weapon, pulverizes his opponents. We watch in awe as every particle of their bodies are disintegrated—obliterated from existence. Jaedong, the tyrant, the legend killer, rules his court with an iron fist. Each mortal who enters his realm is dominated completely and made to serve as a jester for his amusement. These are not heroes, for these are not men. They are gods. We watch them clash, and find ourselves bewitched, transfixed by their abilities to hurl meteors and move mountains at their whim.
Bang. You're dead. I just shot you with my finger.lol me too.
Yet there is one man who has been biding his time, waiting for the day he would be strong enough to rise again. Each morning he sharpens his knives, and listens to their grinding. Each day he juggles them, and whips them into targets. Each night he sleeps with them. And now he is ready. Ready to challenge the gods.
Holy crap that's creepy.
Kim Taek Yong has many knives. He has his probe knife, his corsair knife, his dark templar knife, his high templar knife, his reaver knife. He has more knives in more places than you want to know about. But he is going to save us. He is going to save us from a world of StarCraft where only the biggest, most expertly controlled army matters. He is going to save us from a world where players build up to one gigantic encounter, and often knew 10 minutes ago that they were going to be behind in it. He's going to show something we've been missing for a long time. It's become almost common knowledge that taking risks when you're already ahead in StarCraft is bad. It's almost become common knowledge that cutting your losses early is better than taking a risk where the chance of success seems remote. But that ain't Kim Taek Yong. His soul hasn't been crushed by Jaedong and Flash yet. He still beats the passionate heart of a human. He's going to be the reason that gives humanity hope to overcome our oppressive gods.
In this game, the truth is revealed. The truth we'd all doubted for so long. Kim Taek Yong prepares his reaver knife, and Mind spots it miles before it can strike him. We think "Well, Bisu's fucked." But somewhere inside us, we still have hope. He's the hero. He has to win. I'll lose all will to live if he doesn't. Common Kim Taek Yong. I believe in you. The situation grows graver. Mind is already sending SCVs to prepare to build a ring of turrets that will be impenetrable for Kim Taek Yong's reaver knife. But Kim Taek Yong has more than one knife. He loads two zealots and a dragoon for a deadly surprise, and shows Mind that it is not his future reaver heart attack he should be worrying about, but his present zealot kick to the balls. Even so, Mind manages to keep his testes relatively intact and put up his turret ring. Most progamers would turn back at the sight of that. Not Kim Taek Yong. With a feat of gymnastics you have to see to believe, Kim Taek Yong crippled Mind's economy and left him soft enough for a few carriers to finish the job.
More knives, more fun. That's Kim Taek Yong's attitude. He juggles corsairs, dark templar, and high templar in all different areas of the map, and stabs Hyvaa in every soft spot he has. He is aggressive, relentless, and doesn't sit on an advantage. At one point he finds himself open to a triple pronged assault by Hyvaa. Our heart skips a beat. Please survive. So many probes lose their lives, and scatter frantically. They sprint away and contemplate their mortality. But Kim Taek Yong holds, and they're able to go back to their happy lives mining minerals. Games are exciting when you're not cheering for a god. Games are exciting when Kim Taek Yong knows one slip with his knives could cut deeply into his own chest. That's what makes him a hero. He is brave enough to take the risks no one else will, and when we watch him we see our own desires fulfilled. To watch a god, cheering for him, is to have the expectation he is vastly superior—invulnerable. To see him lose is a strange surprise, and can only mean he just didn't want to win. Kim Taek Yong always wants to win.
The reaver knife Part II, featuring the giant corsair knife. Kim Taek Yong goes double stargate to really cut away Hyvaa's stomach. Hyvaa is hungry, and can't muster the strength to get a grip on his game. While wielding the gigantic cosair knife, Kim Taek Yong skillfully whips a reaver knife strait into Hyvaa's mouth. Hyvaa thinks 'how am I supposed to eat if I can't get drones to put minerals in my mouth? How am I supposed to retain food if my stomach is leaking what little it has everywhere. Hyvaa's mind bleeds red when zealots and dark templar pierce into his skull and turn the lights out. Kim Taek Yong is no child who accidentally murders a pedophile in a fit of terror. Kim Taek Yong knows his knives, and he knows them well. He plans their uses, and he executes them to perfection. It is not a last ditch attempt while losing to unexpectedly stab his opponent in the heart. It is a flurry of blades his opponent knows is coming but can't figure out how to stop. It is a flurry of blades not even the gods can stop.
Bisu is thy name. The last true hero. Save us! PRAISE THE REVOLUTIONIST!

not a bisu fan but this was a really cool read =) I loled at the first two pictures :p

i never really liked bisu but it's been SO LONG since a protoss won a league that I'm rooting for every protoss out there this OSL. bisu always had the aura around him when he was at his best that he was truly beyond the level of any other protoss player, the same aura that flash and jaedong have and luxury/calm/fantasy/stork/effort/etc never had. bisu has always had the potential to be just as good as JD and flash, hopefully he can finally prove himself this OSL.

It was really nice to see Bisu eviscerate a Zerg again. The second game against Hyvaa was total rape.

I've always been hovering somewhere between "fan" and "apathy" in terms of Bisu but...I think BW needs a dominating protoss representative along the lines of JD and Flash. So for now I'll be rooting for Bisu to go forth and become the top-tier protoss.
Performance has been encouraging so far but he's still got alot to prove, and here's hoping that he's up to the task

Ahhh, I love having Bisu back. The Bisu vs Jaedong games are SOOOOOOOOOO great. ^_^ Much better than Flash vs Jaedong usually turn out to be, lol.

yay Bisu, nice writeup chef!

Gotta love Bisu, his games are entertaining like no other. There's just not enough players who are harass-intensive or aggressive enough, altho Fantasy has ridiculous vulture harass in TvP

Bisu my hero! Turn the gods back into mortals!

That was an amazing read. I'm going to watch Bisu's games again. Bisu fighting!

"lol me too"
Hahaha! Great read, thanks.

awesome, very well done!
this is why i never bother to watch jaedong/flash games unless the series/match is important. to me. they play just way too standard the most epic harassments have been from bisu!

Awesomely written! I hope you dont mind if I take a shot at writing something similar in your thread, i dont feel it deserves its own and its related anyway :p
+ Show Spoiler +A man sits alone in a dark room, looking relaxed as he leans back into the depths of the chair
A blur of movement, accompanied by a muffled sound
a knife pierces the air as it gracefully buries itself into a photograph hanging from the wall. Park Sung Gyoon's face is split grotesquely in two. Light shines off the knife.
Almost as soon as the first knife had found its mark, another flies by, barely a blur, landing squarley between Shin Dae Kun's eyes.
"Two down..." The figure in the chair whispered as he leaned forward. He glanced towards the other end of the wall, which had several more photos hanging from it. He walked up to it and picked one off. He stared into Lee Young Ho's smiling face and smirked "And more to come" Kim Taek Shin threw the photo in the air and pinned it to the ceiling with another knife.
"Its finally time."
