God this might be vague so bare with me, I'm sure there's a ton of anime experts on this site so I'm praying ill get lucky
But there was this one show i saw once, it might have even been a movie, and I can't at all remember the name and google is failing me because i dont remember much.
What i do remember is that the main character is female and the story is set in something like she lives in a town that's under a sort of 'floating city' and the place up there is all special and amazing and the place she lives in is like a wasteland, where the place above dumps all it's garbage
And there are head hunters in the show, im not sure if she is one or not she might be.
the most clear scene i can remember besides random killings is she's trying to climb up this like metal pipe to the floating city, cause that's how it's connected to the one below it i think, and this huge razor spinny thing connected to the pipe comes down and almost gets her, or cuts a limb off, for some reason i remember her having a fake limb but maybe not.
God wasn't that uncertain and vague?
but much thanks for any help at all finding this, it's probably been the only thing bothering me that i couldn't remember for the last while now.
Or maybe Battle Angel Alita? Why don't you just google "anime floating city", there's about half a million more of these generic flying things in just as many animes.
* Known as Gunnm in Japan and then Battle Angel Alita to the Western audience, Battle Angel (in all of its incarnations) is now part of the canon of Blade Runner-inspired anime cyberpunk. Adapts the first two volumes of the manga.
The film version follows a Hunter Warrior and cyborg healer named Ido. Ido formerly lived in the floating land of Zalem (Tiphares in the book), the paradise that hovers over the refuse heap of Scrap Iron City in which he now resides with his former lover, Chiren. In his travels as a bounty hunter — killing spine thieves in a world in which human nerve tissue has become the most precious commodity — Ido one day discovers and repairs the remnants of a cyborg whom he names Gally (Alita in the Western version).
Though possessing the body of a young woman, Gally embodies Ido's most sophisticated and lethal cybernetic skill. The preternaturally strong, amnesiac Gally begins to forge a life for herself in a world where every day is a struggle for survival.
Battle Angel Alita, yea. Great manga, well worth picking up. It's something like six or seven books for the main series, then there's the later-built spinoff series by the same writer which is something like the same number of books.
Only the first book ever got made into a movie, which is very sad. It's a great display of early 90s cyberpunk / post-apoc setting.
seriously? English dubs? Do you hate the OP or... because I have no idea why you'd want to force the extremely cheesy prepubescent nasal american anime voices on him if you didnt. Theres some animes where the english dub is ok since the actors dont actually seem to be going out of their way to be as horrible as possible, but they're few and far in between
