And jaedong's not gonna lose in a place as important as msl finals where the stakes are so high. Flash may have a better mindset right now, but Jaedong has the potential to be mentally stronger (his angry mode).

Sorry if your favorite progamer can't be called god.

Its just ridiculous how people are calling him that. And try to keep your fanboy hormones down to a minimum. It won't do you any good

Just a few years ago, a certain programmer said on camera that he now knew and understood everything there was to know about starcraft after hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of hours of practice. We all know how that ended up. So just what makes Flash’s ascension so different? umm... who was this?

While I was hoping for a close 3-2 victory for Jaedong in the finals (assuming he makes it past Calm), I'm beginning to wish he would just rape Flash 3-0 so everyone will shut up about with this "Flash isn't bonjwa, he's God herp derp" nonsense. On the other hand, if Flash beats Jaedong 3-0, I'm probably going to stop following progaming simply because I wouldn't be able to tolerate the rabid Flash fanboys anymore. Lol no one is really calling Flash God. It's a hyperbole; a metaphor for absolute pwnage i.e. God is traditionally defined as omnipotent and all-powerful two things you could say describe Flash's dominance in the world of Starcraft currently. The article was a commentary on Flash's psychology and was based on his own interview statements. I thought the God thing was both an appropriate metaphor (given Flash's belief he has achieved some sort of Buddha-like Starcraft enlightenment) and very funny at the same time (the pictures were great!). Say your prayers to Flash haters!

I was under the impression we were calling him God because he got that nickname in Korea. EDIT: From http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=124201 On May 08 2010 19:36 sungsik- wrote: Also korean started to call Flash as GOD Young-Ho.(Young-Ho is flash's real name) What this means is boxer, nada, oov, savior are four BonJwa, which is used to represent players who dominate for long time, and flash is the first God line. So don't take the nickname so seriously.

Because we're all in love with Korean Starcraft and that's not what they call him in Korea. In all honesty, I don't see why you're so offended by the nickname when it's simply just taken from Korea, just like a lot of other nicknames for progamers.

Say your prayers to Flash haters! I am aware that no one believes that Flash is literally God, thanks. -_- My point is that calling Flash God, even purely in the context of Starcraft, is incredibly annoying and simply not valid. It seems like a poor way of dealing with the whole "Is Flash bonjwa?" controversy by going down an even more extreme, obnoxious route by declaring that "Flash isn't bonjwa, he's God". Flash is not the God of Starcraft. It's just that he has an amazing ability to consistently beat players who are clearly below his level (just about everyone besides Jaedong), which is what separates him from Jaedong who is still vulnerable to losing against lesser players (except in Bo5s). He just happens to be an amazing player who is extremely consistent. However, Flash is far from invincible when faced against another S-class player at their peak level (NATE MSL finals, EVER OSL game against Stork). Unfortunately, we are in a period where there really aren't any truly great players with the exception of Flash and Jaedong. What does it say about the current state of progaming when the 3rd ranked player puts up such a pathetic performance in the semi-finals of a starleague? (yes, Flash played amazingly as always but even considering that, does anyone actually believe that Free's performance was anywhere close to acceptable for a 3rd rank player?) I really don't understand what the basis is behind the claim that Flash has completely figured out Starcraft when he's been almost entirely facing against cheeses and cookie-cutter builds. The only player in recent times who showed a great amount of ingenuity against Flash in a Bo5 was Jaedong, and he beat Flash 3-1. So until Flash stomps over an opponent who is actually prepared with well thought-out strategies and the mechanics to execute those strategies properly (i.e. Jaedong), Flash is nowhere close to being the "God of Starcraft".
