I only made it to the first gym before I realized that I was just repeating myself for the 99th time. Nintendo has this awesome intellectual property that they refuse to ever innovate or expand upon, and instead just remake the same game for one and a half decade with scant differences between each game.

Right now I play this thing to get a taste of competitive pokemon. From reading some boards, lot of people are quite into it.

I'm wondering if there should be a bench system to add further depth into the metagame.

Most just use battle simulators to get perfect IVs/EVs etc. because IV/EV training in the actual games is a royal pain in the ass. But yeah once you get over "lulz pokemans" it's pretty interesting. If you go to the IRL competitions or play online, they apparently have means of checking for doctoring. (edit: I'm unsure as to whether they have the same for online completitions) There are people who obsessively breed for perfect IVs and train for EVs. Different games have different breeding mechanics and IV transfer processes, making this process a whole lot more complex. I was once one of these types, but I've since quit; I just battle on Shoddy Battle these days. But Pokemon remains easily the most complex RPG; the metagame is astoundingly diverse.

It's also quite easy to doctor IVs to make it seem legit, not-so-suspicious ones. Soooo, battlers from TL, let's play!

It's also easy to "abuse" the RNG for your game to get perfect IV Pokemon and no one can tell as you are not using a cheating device or glitch.
