Well the person enters your e-mail address which sends an invite key to your e-mail address. So yes, you will get a message from HoN saying you're invited and whatnot.
Check your spam folder.
Also are you using hotmail? I had trouble inviting one person because he had a hotmail address. Gmail works best imo.
