Kwanro: "I practiced hard and I was able to find the solution after some time."
"I practice hard for the games I have to face next."
"I practice hard for the games I have to face next."
- You have successfully qualified for the Semi-Finals two seasons in a row.
▲ I am really happy. My team let me practice hard for this MSL instead of Proleague. It is because of that that I've gotten this far. I feel really glad.
- Did they start doing that from from the Round of 8 only?
▲ No. It was throughout the entire season. My teammates helped me out a lot as well.
- The third and fourth set were to be played on maps that are heavily favored against Zergs.
▲ They are very tough maps. But I practiced hard and I was able to find the solution after some time.
- You decided to get your gas first after your natural.
▲ I spent some time thinking about what to do. I did not have any real reason behind it. I just chose it because my Zergling speed upgrade would be done faster.
- You destroyed the barracks with 6 Zerglings.
▲ Even I was surprised after I destroyed it, and I knew I had won. My first attack was fended off by a bunker, and it was an attack that I couldn't let it be defended against. The Terran's sim city was very good. But I knew that the Zerglings would be able to bypass the medic. I think luck was on my side.
- Your management skill has improved, so you seem to be stronger now in a series play.
▲ I want to play well in both Proleague and in individual leagues. Amidst that, I was able to play by my own style, and although I was formerly told that I couldn't play management style well, as I kept winning on broadcasted games, others have slowly acknowledged me. It is the people that I do not personally know that say that I've gotten better in a series play. I am just doing my best to win.
- You were the runner-up last year. Your thoughts on this season?
▲ I have to wait and see. I always want to win. I always think to myself how good it would have been if I had won, even before I go to bed. But now, I can't be too hasty. I do my best to focus only on the games I have to play ahead of me. I think that's the best mindset I should have.
- You will be playing the winner of BeSt vs Flash in the Round of 4.
▲ I don't have anyone I would want to advance in mind. Both players are the same to me. It's to be played on the grand stage of the Round of 4, so it will be good for me to overcome my fears and pressure. I think ZvT and ZvP is the same.
- Any further words?
▲ I want to thank Special, GanZi, Center, hOn_sin and SaiR. PianO hasn't been feeling well lately so he's resting at home. He isn't able to practice with us, and I hope he quickly recovers and joins us in the dorms once again. SaiR is new to our team, and I hope he becomes the hope for our Terran line up. Also, I didn't talk about my fan cafe so my membership count didn't increase (laugh). Now that I am in the Semi-Finals, I hope more people join my fan cafe, and hope to give me more words of encouragement (laugh).

- You have finally advanced into the Semi-Finals of the MSL in a long time.
▲ Like the OSL, I have gotten into the Semi-Finals after a long time. I will be facing Kwanro next, and I will definitely prepare hard to get into the Finals.
- You played today while being ahead 1-0.
▲ I have already forgotten about my win in the first set. I played while thinking as though the set was 0:0. I planned to win 3:0 and it all went according to plan.
- You won the second set in a long macro game.
▲ BeSt was able to macro more units than I expected. He really is different from other players. Still, I told myself that I would be able to win if I played well, and did not let my guard down. I was able to win because I wasn't complacent.
- You played defensively in the second set.
▲ I had no choice, due to the way the map is designed. If I split the map in half, then of course the Terran wins. The Protoss should go for a head-on attack, but I think BeSt thought that would cost him too much.
- You even succeeded in nuking your opponent.
▲ It had many effects. But I was too focused on the game that I missed out on some details. I only thought about how I could win. I thought that even if my nuke attempt failed, it wouldn't hurt me much. That was because I knew I would win as long as I split the map in half.
- You won the third set through a contain.
▲ I think my opponent was maxed in supply. I was at 120~130 supply. I think making a simcity with supply depots at the contain helped a long way. There were many times where the game would either end early or would drag on to late game, but today it ended up at an awkward timing.
- BeSt seemed to have really wanted to win today.
▲ I wanted to get my revenge against him. Through practice, I was able to improve my TvP. I wanted to show that my TvP has improved.
- With your advancement into the semi-finals, you can now aim to win both leagues.
▲ Even now, I am not hungry for a title in the individual leagues. That is because if I get greedy, there is no end to it. My current mindset is to play my best for every game. I think that is working out well. Even if I get eliminated, I am still young and I will have lots of opportunities in the future.
- The gap between the #1 KeSPA ranked Jaedong and you have gotten smaller.
▲ The gap was too big at first so I didn't really expect much. But when I checked the rankings for this month, the gap has gotten significantly smaller. I think I can finally try aiming for the first place in a long time. It's not about wanting to be in first place, but more about naturally getting there through good performance.
- You are facing Kwanro in the Semi-Finals.
▲ Kwanro is well-mannered and really kind. Not a lot of people know this, but I really like him as a player (laugh). I think it will be more fun to play him than playing other players. Kwanro is a very good player, and I will just have to prepare even harder.
- Any further words?
▲ I want to thank Stats and Violet who helped me with practice despite being their off-days.
