There's these things in every country in the world. +1111111100000000000000 i been so many places in mainland europe, never been robbed. any small amount of common sense and you can spot where is unsafe and who to avoid.

I know you're trying to help but I just hate it when people say things like, "that's ok! You still have your health!"
Anyways, sorry to hear. Shoulda came to blizzcon instead lol

Trust me you wouldn't get hurt in paris especially near the Seine St Denis. To the op, suck to be you, but paris and tourist places are really common to pickpockets. Actually if you watch carefully some of them are really creative and you can't help but laugh. Oh well, now that you got robbed once, hope you won't experience it twice !

I always keep my passport, money, cards etc in a neckpouch under my shirt. For added unexpectedness I wear it backwards, so the pouch is between my back and my shirt (no visible lump, fits nicely in the small of my back). To do anything else when travelling is asking for it^H^H^H^H^H not doing all you can to protect yourself, especially in a city where snatch and grabs are endemic.
I don't mean this like "haha you moron", just some advice for next time, or for anyone else planning on travelling. Whenever the local french teacher takes a group of students over there, at leat one of them loses a wallet. Hide that shit.

Well I was hanging out with a family friend of mine in Paris and we were walking around somewhere (Im not even too sure where it was...) ... needless to say, it was kind of cold so I gave my jacket to my friend (because Im a super nice gentelman). Anyways I was a dumbass and I had stuff in my jacket pockets.
Some African guy runs up and takes the jacket from my friends shoulders and runs off. He must have been Usain Bolts cousin or something. Needless to say, GG drivers lisence, credit card, dads credit card (ruh roh Im dead), bank card, hotel card, phone card, and money. Most importantly though, I lost my notebook in which I had written over 40 pages of poems since I got to France.
Lesson learned: dont leave stuff in jacket pockets, and dont give your jackets to girls. Lol.
Luckily, her dad owns a market and gave me enough food to last me a day and my dad Western Uniond me money. But ya.
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. End of story.
I was in Paris two weeks ago and was having a ridiculously overpriced Bulmer's cider in a pub, when all of a sudden from a table not far away from me, a black guy jumps up, grabs a cell phone/ipod or similar and runs like Bolt down the street (it was at Grands Boulevard). Then the apparent owner this said device tried to catch him but he had to return without anything at all because the guy was so fast.
This all happened in a mere second and it seemed to me that these gents were actually sitting at the same table for a while having a chat, so I was really confused after this incident. o_O
Lesson: be extra cautious with your valuables in Paris (and don't talk to the Romanian women asking you if you spoke English^^)!
