Meanwhile the Federal government continues to underfund and underaid us while giving more money to states that enjoy comfortable budget surpluses. I know this is in large part due to our progressive income tax, but... well... we're really all to blame for letting our spending get so out of hand in the first place. While we've never had free summer courses here in NY, I do fucking hate how the midwest states get more money then us.

He's not exaggerating, either. I love how we hate on tax so much while the European countries are fine with 80%+ tax rate. California public education (K to 12) pretty much went from first to last in US after that property tax debacle, but we still don't learn. Capitalism at its best.

Not sure why exactly cali is so broke to be honest. Cali has a huge export of crops and wine from the inland areas, lots of computer shit as well. Then we got hollywood and the largest port on the west coast (and even one of the largest in the whole world) in Long Beach. The seaport boasts approximately $100 billion dollars in trade and provides more than 316,000 jobs in Southern California
