Have any of you guys played this game before?
It's such an awesome card game. It takes a very deep level of strategy, but also there is considerable luck involved.
For those who know how to play Bridge, it is like bridge on crack.
Really it is too complicated to explain if you don't know how to play Bridge, but if you do, it is Bridge except
1.) There are wizard cards. These cards are better than trump cards, and can be played at any time. There are 4 of them. The first person to play a wizard card wins the trick.
2.) There are jester cards. These cards are lower in value than anything and assure that you lose the trick. They also can be played at any time. They are great to block having to play a card of a certain suit(especially trump cards).
3.) First round, everyone gets 1 card. They bid on how many tricks they will win. Every round, everyone gets 2 cards, and then bidding. 3rd round, 3 cards. This continues until the final round, which will be like 10th to 20th round, depending on number of players. Trump suit is determined by flipping over the top card of the deck, after hands are dealt. If a wizard is flipped, dealer picks the trump suit. If a jester is flipped, there is no trump suit.
It really is an amazing game, I suggest anyone who likes card games to check it out.

I remember playing this. It's reasonably fun for a card game.
|
yeah if by reasonably fun u mean the best card game there is, period
maybe its too cold in norway to enjoy good card games
(sorry im a little drunk and i think im funny)

sounds interesting, but i don't understand how bidding would work in this game
and is this that much better than bridge?

well the main thing i prefer about this is that it is not a team game, each player plays individually whereas bridge is based in partnerships
and yes the wizards/jesters do add a seriously cool element
the bidding is just like, each player (starting with whoever is directly to the right of the dealer), just says how many tricks they think they will win
and then the person to their right says how many they will win and then the next person
etc etc

oh what it's not a team game? didn't catch that >_< bidding first round is pretty much pointless, though, right? i mean, it's pretty much just based on the trump suit or whether or not you have a wizard and what's the point system like? does each person have his own contract? (this is probably all on the site, huh?)

no not pointless, though considerable luck involved
like, if trump is spades and ur first to act and u have Ah, should u bid 1 trick or not? i mean quite often on first round no one will have a spade or a wizard.
or if ur last to act and spade is trump, and bidding goes 1, 1, 1 and u see K spades. should u bid 1 or none? prolly none cuz someone prolly has A spades or wizard. it's pretty cool actually.
and what's the point system like? does each person have his own contract? (this is probably all on the site, huh?)
u get 20 points if u meet ur bid. and then u get 10 extra points per trick. so if u bid 5 and get all 5, u get 20 + 50, so 70 points.
but if u bid 5 and get 2, u get 0 - 30 because u were 3 off. so missing ur tricks is 10 points per miss. same if u go over in tricks, 10 points deducted per trick off.

oh nice (wasn't aware trump suit is revealed before bidding) it seems sort of like a poker-ish twist to me too bad you can't really count cards

You said it yourself, "considerable luck involved."
A card game that relies more on luck than skill is no fun IMO =\

Ok, first off, this is nothing like bridge
From the rules u described, it seems to be an "oh hell" variant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh_Hell, which is still one of those fun games to play, especially if u have an odd number of ppl

I fucking love this game, I've had so many fun times with this deck of cards.
I was pleased to see this on the forum ha!

ok whatever, it still follows many of the basic rules of bridge, and i would assume more people have heard of bridge than oh hell, at least ive never heard of it.

I just made that post because anyone who has played both bridge and oh hell would be thinking that
It definitely is a lot of fun though, especially in the later stages imo
Edit:

I'll admit the bidding is better but the actual playing of the hands is less fun imo
in bridge that is

Is this a TCG/CCG where you need to buy packs and shit all the time or is it a 1 deck thing? I've never played bridge can you gimme a quick idea and playstyle of the game? I'm pretty interested.
PS- A long time ago I played this special card game similar to 13 with actual names for the ranks of the cards like peasant up to king or something, that was pretty cool game. Anyone know what its called?
