Ok, here's my opinion on Bisu. I know most people don't care about it but it might be interesting to some of you.
There was a replay pack of Bisu I downloaded a long long time ago, I don't think he was pro back then, maybe even he was 14 or 15... I watched the games and in all 3 matchups he was very very aggressive. Most of the games were short (under 12-13 minutes) and opponents cracked under his pressure. I especially remember his PvP on Requiem where he went 2 gate zeal to goon to DT in 6 minutes. He did this by making only 15 probes and teching to the DTs while pumping 5 zealots and 4-5 goons. It was amazing to see him rape. I was really impressed back then. To the point where he became my favorite player.
Then I had to stop playing BW/watching VODs. But I lurked and read TL from time to time. This was during the Savior era. And then came this final where Bisu the utter underdog raped Savior 3 to 0 in like an hour with this hyper aggressive and perfectly timed sair/dt build, the so called Bisu build.
Yeah, it was timed to crush Savior. To put him in a state of mind where he looked completely helpless and lost and unable to defend or attack properly. To make him do his ridiculous hydra dance at the end of game 3 on Blitz (was it Blitz?). Bisu delivered and I was happy. He crushed in a very convincing fashion the best ZvP player with a build so perfectly timed and thought of it reminds art.
Maybe Savior was too much into partying and whore-fucking. I remember Rakrul posting something about that. And that's understandable. I mean... A guy at the age of 18-19 with a shitload of money who sacrificed so so much to become a Bonjwa. And at some point he must have thought something like "WTF am I doing this for? I'm having no fun, I won all that is possible and worth winning, I might as well go get a massage and a few blowjobs". That's understandable.
But back on Bisu and my fan-dom. I really enjoyed watching him. I started watching the Starleagues just to see him play. But he slumped for some time. Then came back in 2008 to win some trophies. And he did in such a dominating fashion people started talking of him as the new Bonjwa. And then he lost some PvZ on Tears of the Moon and in the interview he said it was the map's fault.
At this point my opinion on him dropped to sub-zero. For a lot of reasons. First of all: disrespect to the opponent. The guy against you put a lot of effort in thinking a build, executing it properly and you come and say it's map's fault and if you don't double nex you're pretty much fucked nowadays. That's just not how a champion thinks and acts. The champion swallows defeat and learns from it. The champion types GG and he means it, he shows respect to the guy who owned him and sweated and trained hard. The champion doesn't diminish his opponents' accomplishments... I was really disappointed and sad to read this. At this point I realized Bisu will never be the Bonjwa. At least in my eyes. I will always enjoy watching him play but my respect to him went down the drain.
Now the bright stuff:
And today I watched a game of him vs yellow[arnc]. Bisu went 1 gate to sair. And played a game of perfect adaption and scouting. He scouted lurkers, he went robo to obs before templars. He then scouted mutalisk switch, He went sair heavy. He went very late storm but never seemed behind the whole game. And I was very imppressed by the whole game and how both of them played. Yello[arnc] was the aggressor, Bisu the defender for most of the game. And he defended brilliantly which led to victory.
So I thought to myself "Here he is, playing a game of scouting and adaptation and doing it so good it's sad to see every attempt of Yellow[arnc] die to zeal/cannon or the fleet of corsairs. Look at how he intercepted those mutas, how he killed like 7 overlords and sacrificed 3-4 sairs cause it was totally worth it... He must have been pissed when he said it was TotM's fault back then... That's the Bisu I enjoy watching. That's the Bisu I started to like... Shit, I am pumped and happy! I hope he goes to win this OSL...". Although I doubt he will. Jaedong seems just too strong right now.
But that doesn't matter. I think Bisu's right on track with his PvZ. I just hope he doesn't go like Savior and do the "too-much-whoring" thing. I would understand why but I hope he doesn't do it and continue to play in this inspiring and low base micro intensive style like in the game vs Yellow[arnc].
I guess I just meant to say Kim Taek Yong FIGHTING!!!
Sorry if I lost your time!

Wait what? I most likely have missed this. When did Bisu complain about map imbalance and all this disrespect you so claim?
Just curious as I have no recollection of this.

Great blog...interesting about his early replay packs. You lost all your respect for Bisu based on just one interview? Come on, give the guy a second chance! Pros comment on the maps all the time, and Bisu definitely wasn't like "OMG MAP IMBA".

Just curious as I have no recollection of this. There was an interview right after he lost on Tears of the Moon. He said he lost due to the map being impossible for PvZ. It has 2 ways from which zerg comes and the protoss can't make good enough sim city to block both ways without being too much behind. And also said the protoss can't win nowadays vs zerg if he doesn't go double nex.
Yeah, it was kinda harsh to say I lost all my respect to him. He's gaining it all back via great games which is the best way to do it.

THAT PROVES NOTHING!

If you haven't, you should really read Bisu's interview after his OSL Wildcard win if that TotM comment turned you off.
"It seems like that I have been playing starcraft with my mouth rather than my hands these days, so I have been doing very terrible. I said stuff like "I will get to finals", "I can never lose to Zergs" yet I lost every single game. So I decided not to say much from now on."
Overall it sounded pretty sincere, he got a bit cocky and arrogant (and rightly so I think) but he's been showing that he recognizes the fact that he let things go to his head, and he's calming down a bit now.

Of course it proves nothing, but there definitely is some strong evidence in favor of zergs winning more easily on this map. On another note your anti-Bisu fanboyism is hypocritical and amusing =D

To be fair, I think anyone that thinks Totm isn't imba in pvz are just kidding themselves.
There is a reason p's fe whenever possible, even before this recent fe craze.
Bisu just realises that vocalistion this fact will a) not change that fact that he was out of the osl at that point, so is pointless. b) will not make him popular, even if he has a good point.

Wow, this is a great quote - I'd missed this interview. Nice post.

I agree it's imbalanced. But that's not my point.
The way I see it a champion just doesn't act this way. The champion, the player to be Bonjwa fights through all that is thrown at him, tears the opposition apart, makes them enter the player booth almost sure they've already lost, regardless of map or matchup or opponents.
That's a bonjwa. A guy whose whole attitude screams "I'm a raping you on this imbalanced for me map just to show you who's the bitch" is a bonjwa...

are you an IdrA fan? just wondering. he has the "spirit of a champion", right?
