Statement from the Frag Dominant management.
I understand everyone has their own opinion, but carrying on the way #1 and #2 did was highly uncalled for. Simply ask a question and wait for a response; there is no need to insult others.
Yes, I happened to catch that post early yesterday on Team Liquid; I also had a chance to watch the video up on Starcraft For All.
As I'm sure many if not the entire Starcraft community should know, Frag Dominant has no past experience within the scene. We have had no teams, no fans, and no members from our department following the game. With the New Year rapidly approaching, the FD management sat down months back and discussed a potential new market to pursue in 2009; that being the ever popular Starcarft and it's to be released version, Starcraft 2.
Now, the main question that everyone has been asking, "why are we supporting certain people within the organization?"
We were approached by Pierre-Jean, also known as ToaD, who was very interested in beginning his journey to become a professional Starcraft player. He was scheduled to leave his home in France to attend University in Korea, where he would receive the perfect chance to practice his skills and mingle with the right people.
Now, what you probably didn't know is that ToaD was also going to be our eyes and ears over in Korea; where his job was to scout young talented players who we could possibly build a team around. A team that had potential to travel the globe while representing us and our sponsors along the way.
Is Pierre the next up and coming Starcraft player? Only time will tell. But allowing him to make an appearance at an offline event to at least try isn't the end of the world, as many here have made it out to be.
Will Frag Dominant be supporting the Starcraft community like first planed? Good chances are no, we won't. Many people including those behind the article on Team Liquid and the video of Starcraft For All could have easily bypassed this weeks "hot topic."
If the community as DREAM-JOY has said is hurt by our actions, then a simple request for an interview could have answered everything I just listed. I would have rather enjoyed watching that video or reading that article which stated possible hints related to Frag Dominant expanding into Korea, and ToaD was going to help pick our players.
Providing our brand with a tainted image isn't something that was necessary, and frankly was highly uncalled for.
But this wasn't a wall of text to provide shame upon those a part of the published pieces, but merely to tell our side of the story.
Thanks to those who took the time to read this over,
FD Management
And guys, maybe tone down a tad on the bad manner? D=

This is so insane. FD has so little understanding of the korean scene it's unbelieveable. Maybe somebody should link them to the the [name] house video where players infinately stronger than ToaD who train for ~12 hours each day are all turned down by estro as they don't have the skills.
Not only that, FD doesn't appear to have made any comments regarding the iCCup abuse.. do they think we are lying? I don't understand..
well I understand that FD don't understand ;;
edit: worldcommunist8 sums up what FD need to know well on their forums

Stop being such faggots on there, you're making us look shit ;D

I understand that some of you Starcraft elitist are angry, but when you flame on another site representing Teamliquid.net you're not doing the website any favors. You're giving Teamliquid a bad rep, especially since many people will flock to Teamliquid when SC2 comes out.
edit: Stop being dramatic over something so dumb.

lol i love his reply
being in korea will allow him to improve and mingle with the right crowds
YEAH ATTEND UNIVERSITY IN KOREA AND UR FUCKIN IN WITH THE PROGAMERS AND ULL GET IN THE LEAGUES

I think just a fairly bad investment when you promote him as a player yet in your statement try to retract it to say he is a scout for other players. Koreans wont join non korean leagues because of time/lag restrictions also they think of playing us as no compition. I just think it was a rather rash decision and there seems to of been 0 research done when this investment was made which is why its being recieved so horribly.

thank god to the people presenting reasonable arguements on the FD forums
edit: abusers are so hated in the SC community and the flame is almost reasonable, but shouldn't be directed at FD at this point seeing as they haven't even made a response about the abuse yet as far as I've seen

That's a response in itself, to me. Not responding to multiple points that "Hey, this guy abuses" is a sign.

Lol they're probably really embarressed right now and tryign to find some excuse for his abuse

I'm sure a lot of you guys are flaming them on their forums. Honestly, the most I can say is that I don't like him abusing ICCUP lol.

Hes a fucking dishonest and egoistic idiot. First of all , he sucks balls, he sucks so much that he need to abuse to be d+ , and also , believing having a 15-0 d+ win ratio at iccup looks good is even more sucking balls thing.. He could have let his place to somebody better. WHat he s doing is nearly a thief , he steals som1 deserving to go to korea possibility and he also robs the sponsor who think hes good... and also he's suposed to recuit "new sc talent" for this team..what a morron , its like asking a D- player to solve complaints A/A+ on iccup. His game vision is so crappy that whatever he will decide/ do it will be bad.

Oh irony, how I love you so.

I am still wondering who made that decision and based on what grounds. Saying "we're not familiar with sc and had no past experience" makes them look even worse.
|
Lol i'm not sure they're aware of what costs a pro team in Korea. If they do, you guys should get in touch with them and do something, because that means they got millions to spend >.>
