Very often I will think to do something for a few minutes/hours then I finally do it, then minutes later I get this feeling of like remorse (damn, can't think of the word) like uh, like I already did it and I feel stupid for forgetting and doing it again (and if it was like the following situation, the person just didn't say anything about it).
For instance, I'll ask someone something and they will respond and I get this overwhelming feeling that I had already asked them the same shit before (maybe a few months ago or something).
And no I'm not talking about de ja vu, which coincidentally doesn't really happen to me that often anymore.
Does this ever happen to any of you? Is it because I have too much shit on my mind all the time? Stress or not enough sleep or something?
Poll: Happen to u? (Vote): yea (Vote): no (Vote): sometimes
Also Not as often as the previous but I've had these times where I will be concentrating really hard not to do something and while doing it I will think about the possibility of it happening and sort of visualize it in my head and in doing so I actually make it happen IRL. LOL
So like for example, I was walking down the stairs at my grandma's house with a plate that had a bowl with mostly eaten chili and a cup with a fork balancing on the side. and some other shit in my other hand. So I'm going down the stairs and thinking damn that would be horrible if I stumbled up and this shit shattered all over the floor (It's ceramic tile floor). Then a few steps later it happens.

I think it is pretty normal since the questions we ask are just.... to spark a conversation. Naturally we will forget them, and when we meet them again few months later, you'll ask again =/. (i can't express it properly).
|
no not arbitrary social stuff like "how are you doing? where do you work now? where do you live? same gf?"
I mean like actual worthwhile question about something important to you (at least for the moment).
|
I hate when that happens....

My mom does this. She'll ask me a question then an hour later ask me the same thing then do it again an hour later and I'll just say mom that's the 3rd (or 4th) time you've asked me that . I think if you've got things that are stressing you it happens more. Like my mom only does it if she's stressed and preoccupied.
|
I try not to make a habit of it.
It only happens when I actually try to socialize with people. During a long pause, I'll ask them something to get the conversation moving, but then I remember that I just asked it.

I have this sometimes (the first thing), but only for the last 1-2 years or so. Thought about it, I blame it on
-getting older, more stuff/memories in my head, I tend to forget about other things -alcohol/weed taking effect at last, memory is not what it used to be -the more people you know, the more you can get stuff mixed up

lol i joined the same starcraft game like 5 times before realizing it was the same game

I voted sometimes...
I know what you mean by it happening like right before you think of the "what if..." factor pops in ur head. Every now and then I think this way like I believe last weekend I was washing my car and after I was done and about to take a cruise around town I thought "what if some idiot or myself get in a wreck and just defeats the purpose of why I even cleaned the car."
A couple of years back every time I was about to execute anything the "what if" factor would pop into my brain and make me think of the circumstances/consequences if whatever I was doing at the time would fail. I kinda let shit go after I had this talk with one of my friends and he just told me to quit thinking that way and if it's going to happen it will happen. Somewhat using murphy's law...Now I'm having second thoughts on this post...Here it goes. Gone.

this guy i know repeats the same fucking shit over and over to a point where i want to beat his head in
like i'd understand if there was someone NEW in the group that hasn't heard of the 'thing' before, but his has happened at least 4or5 times to the same group members.
I also don't mind if its a random fact about something that is changing around the area, i.e "you know i heard they're going to put a new shopping center there" that doesn't bug me, what bugs me is those useless quoted facts.
I've told him on numerous occasions that he repeats himself, he admits it, but nothing changes.

I usually find if someone under normal circumstances asks you the same question more than once they haven't been listening to you. Often by the time this happens though you have had enough conversation time (possibly on different occasions) to realise that this person is self centred and is only asking said question to steer the conversation in a direction that will allow them to talk more about themselves or matters important to them.

rofl "charlie is a raging wanker." :D ireland huh, sup doode'

Hi Vex!!~
CM, I know EXACTLY how you feel. This happens to me all the time. I thought it's just because my short term memory sucked.
|
My girlfriend asks me the same questions... Could be from a week ago, a month ago, a year ago... And she has repeated some questions over the past 7 years pretty consistently.

I do this when checking the time. I look at the clock on my phone, read the numbers, put it away. Then suddenly realise I hadn't kept the information in my head and have to get it out again.
|
happened today at work >.> My boss was like did you give me Janet's money? I'm like yes I did. Then an hour later, did you give me Janet's money? I'm like you asked me that already :O and she goes oh well what did you answer 'cause I forgot.
|
happens to me all the time with relatives..
"hey can you show me how to program this phone number into my phone?" "no, i've already explained it to you 4 times, why would i explain it again if i'm just gonna have to explain it again tomorrow?"

Fortune Teller: "You will have a bad day today. Be wary." Superstitious Person: "Ah shit, I'm going to have a bad day today." *later that day, many good things happen, one bad thing happens* Superstitious Person: "Ah shit, I can't believe that happened. What a crappy day. How did the fortune teller know! This is so freaky." Fortune Teller: "Cuz I kno all, lulz"

I think it's best not to worry about it. Most are not bothered by it.
Unless they think you don't take them seriously or you forget something that is very important. Like something work related. Or the worst you ask about someone's mom and the person has to tell you again that she died.
It could be stressrelated or you try to hard to remember all kinds of stuff. A JLIG-attitude can sometimes help to remember stuff better.
