Hello everyone
I'm trying to hook up my Toshiba Satellite to my new LG tv. The TV has got all the standard hook ups, HDMI, DVI, 7prong S-cable, etc. This comps a few years old, so I don't have HDMI, so I found an S-cable instead.
I hooked it up and my tv seems to recognize it. To get to any thing (wii, pc, dvd, etc) I gotta hit the input button and select it from a menu. It shows that something is connected, but when I select the hook up, I get a blank screen that shows no signal. My comp seems to recognize something is attached, cuz it shows up 'generic tv' when I check properties on the desk top
I'm on lunch and going back to work. I'll be back around 6 and I can provide photos if they help. THanks!

There should be a button on your laptop keyboard to switch the screen of the laptop to the tv. That is what I usually just do.

haha i was having the same problem last night!!
fiddle w/ the resolution settings on your laptop. my laptop monitor is normally at a 75Hz refresh rate. i had to drop it down to 60Hz and then it looked BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Your refresh rate needs to fit the TV - your resolution may or may not need to fit the TV.

I have a related question...
If your TV has a VGA input on it... which is better VGA or S-video?
|
s-video is definately better than vga

Function key. It usually is between the left CTRL and ALT keys, and is blue.
Of course this is based on your model. But just look for FN and hold it down, and press one of the F1-F8 keys, whichever one is labeled to look like a monitor thingie.
