The one thing I regret is not knowing all the information I could have before I signed up. Mainly, information on how to maximize my potential advancement speed as well as sign in bonuses.
This isn’t to say that recruiters are withholding information from you, that’s not fair to say. However you have to keep in mind that it is the recruiters job to get you in as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
If someone comes to the recruiting station and says they are considering joining the recruiter isn’t going to give them a list of websites to do background research first and send them on their way. That only gives that person more time to change their mind. Not saying recruiters are bad, in fact I think my recruiter and the other three recruiters at my recruiting station are all amazing people who really care about the best interest of their recruits.
But I still think there are things you should know before you ever talk to a recruiter.
If you are living in the Portland/Vancouver Metro area I am willing to help you out and point you in the right direction if you have been considering Military service as a possibility.
I will give you the information I wish I had before I joined, and I will take you to see my recruiter who did a wonderful job for me and has gone above and beyond to get me in a good place before I ship out for basic training, despite how busy he is (he was awarded recruiter of the year for 2008).
Edit - If your interested send me a PM and we can get in touch.
