I'm starting to think maybe he accidentally made the calculations with rent being annually rather than monthly. $700 a month for rent is still pretty cheap, but a lot more understandable.

It's not a typo. Apple is known for milking their customers on things they just hope their customers won't understand.

I remember looking at one point when I was advising my company on what to purchase for my box for rendering 3d, and on the site it was $400 for an extra gig of ram, and the EXACT same specs of ram on a site like newegg or tigerdirect was literally 50 bucks.

Perhaps, but there is a reason people have been complaining about TARP and the way money given out is managed. But anyway, I'd probably spend it mainly on like, rent or food. Seriously, don't buy an Alienware or any store bought PC. Every company severely overprices them. The only way to truly get your money's worth is to just buy the parts yourself and put it together. You could make a monstrous computer without selling the farm, so the speak. It's not to hard to build a computer, sure it may seem daunting at first, but once you learn a bit about it it's rather easy.
