They're going to go down and the government is going to be forced to nationalize them, meanwhile they're going to use the money that was meant for lending to give executives ridiculous severance packages. A serious criminal investigation is required, but unfortunately the FBI is incompetent.

A serious criminal investigation is required, but unfortunately the FBI is incompetent. On the short term, in conjunction with the fairly recently lowered key rate, it has more benefits for them to not start lending right away as the advantage of increasing lending now is minimal for them. While it might be more beneficial for the whole economy, no one really wants to risk their own company for that. On the short run, shoring up their capital positions actually helps them survive as it props up their balance sheet far better than increased lending rates. Besides, there are banks which has increased their lending rates, seeing a chance in the more exposed banks are hesistant to take advantage of the current situation. If that much money can magically cover rent for that long without it restricting where I live to a cardboard house or a closet, I'd go for rent.

It actually helps the economy. You know, the problem with our economy is that people are afraid to spend money, everyone is trying to save up the little that they have. Investment alone from the banks (not that they are doing that, but even if they did) is not enough to drive the economy forward. Our economy is based on human's desire to spend. Without spending, there is actually nothing to invest in. Look at Japan in the late eighties, they literally ran out of things to invest in, so they arbitrarily drove up their real-estate and stock (nikkei peaked at 40k?) only leading to an unsustainable economy which ended in a bust that sent them to a recession that they are yet still trying to recover.

Apple is known for milking their customers on things they just hope their customers won't understand. I remember looking at one point when I was advising my company on what to purchase for my box for rendering 3d, and on the site it was $400 for an extra gig of ram, and the EXACT same specs of ram on a site like newegg or tigerdirect was literally 50 bucks. Apple is a bunch of fucking faggots

I have a feeling that we're going to see them lose a lot of customers to small banks that are picking up the slack and giving loans to reliable people that deserve them, but who have been turned down by Citi & Co. Perhaps, but there is a reason people have been complaining about TARP and the way money given out is managed. Personally while I'd like to see them resume lending on a more normal basis again, I find it rather impractical due to how the market are these days. It essentially comes down to a choice between bad and worse, one where they boost up capital reserves, and one where they lend, gets hit by writedown [naturally] and gets killed by investors. The latter is far more problematic to be worth the possibility that banks doing the "right thing" would start the gears again around the nation. But yeah, some banks are jumping in the gap eagerly, lol.

+ Show Spoiler + buy a ferrari : look at me, i'm so happy!!!; then u crush it in to a wall; who the fuck is happy then?you go to Aspen, a ski trip; you fell, broke some bones; let me hear you laugh fucker you buy the thing assuming it will make you happy and thats about it Can Money Buy Happiness? = retarded question But anyway, I'd probably spend it mainly on like, rent or food. Seriously, don't buy an Alienware or any store bought PC. Every company severely overprices them. The only way to truly get your money's worth is to just buy the parts yourself and put it together. You could make a monstrous computer without selling the farm, so the speak. It's not to hard to build a computer, sure it may seem daunting at first, but once you learn a bit about it it's rather easy.

Mine came up a tad shy of the 27k.... I would put it for 3 years worth of rent in my situation....But if I could put 27k in 40 years worth a rent would be better...But yea I don't know where you could live for $56.25 a month besides the cities housing projects.
