2024 Off-season Community Weekly Cups
Week of November 11-17
by Wax
Whoops, did we jinx it? Following last week's post about how community organizers recreated ESL's Monday triple-header of cups, the Kaelaris-Steadfast-Rotti Cup announced its (temporary?) cessation with tournament #11. Still, even down one competition, the weekly cup scene seems to be in good shape for at least the near future.
Let's take a look at what went down last week:
WardiTV Mondays #10 (partial bracket shown)
WardiTV Mondays started things off with a big surprise, as Trap won his first big weekly cup since his return from military service in April (he did win the smaller Sparking Tuna Cup back in September). Even though weekly cups aren't quite the same as live events, it was very impressive of Trap to survive a gauntlet of GuMiho, Clem, ByuN, and MaxPax so soon after his return to active competition. Hopefully, he won't have to wait too long to show his skills in offline competition as well.

Kaelaris-Steadfast-Rotti Cup #11 (partial bracket shown)
The KSR cup delivered a smaller surprise, with the usual Clem vs MaxPax finals getting canceled by an interloping Astrea. The American Protoss bounced MaxPax from the tournament in the quarters, and then took down ByuN in the semis to earn himself a spot opposite of Clem in the finals. Unfortunately for Astrea, he couldn't take down a third cup titan in a row, and he ceded the weekly title to Clem in a 0-3 sweep.

PiGosaur Cup #6 (partial bracket shown)
Astrea's momentum carried over to the following PiGosaur Cup #6, as he once again made a run to the finals (once again defeating MaxPax along the way). This set him up against ByuN in the finals—a rematch from the earlier KSR Cup semis. ByuN was able to avenge his earlier loss, taking a 3-1 victory to close out the Monday cup trilogy.

OlimoLeague Week #230
Some funky scheduling turned Olimoleague into a 'twice-weekly,' with two tournaments being held in quick succession on 12th and the 16th.
The first of these tournaments gave us a classic ESL Korea/Asia weekly finals of herO vs Dark, with herO narrow besting his regional rival by a 3-2 score.

OlimoLeague Week #231
The second Olimoleague contest of the week was won by Clem, who held off the surging Trap in the finals with a 3-1 victory.

Korean Starcraft League #63
The KSL was back in the mix on its two-week cycle. Dark took first place by flexing his ZvP skills, defeating LunaSea, Zoun, and herO without dropping a single map.
