Anyone but Harris please. This will look extra terrible to have her shoe horned into the office now without a proper primary.

But our Democrat senators, representatives, and big donors still haven’t learned the lesson. They listened to the twitter loudmouths (being amplified by Musk) and put pressure on Biden to step down. He fell for it. Shame on him. I guess we get what we deserve. We’re stupid. As I’ve heard on this forum, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That would double-up California support though (Harris and Newsom), which isn't particularly helpful. I think someone from a swing state would poll better.

But you'd get the support Newsom has across the country that Harris doesn't, no? Only person I could think of would be Whitmer but I don't see that ticket going anywhere.

Its a pretty strong argument tbh. My argument was she's the anti-Trump. More famous. More rich. Hotter. Imagine how angry he'd get lol "Trump needed his family's and the government's money to become successful and still ended up in debt. I did it myself and I'm richer and more successful."

I think PA's governor, Josh Shapiro, is head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of maximizing the chance of Harris beating Trump. He locks up PA, meaning that we only need to win MI and WI. He's also a very articulate "young" white/Jewish/white-passing man, which is extremely important in this moment. Nobody guarantees a win, but I think Harris-Shapiro is the best bet we've got.

In this timeline, what would the matchup be in Novermber from the GOP side? I don't see anyone with the same appeal as Trump, just a lot of imitations.

If Harris runs Trump wouldn't even need to be seen in public between now and the election to win by an absolute mile.

Public pressure campaign to force someone out of a position that they have obtained. Biden crushed the primaries. By all rights, the dem nomination is his. It’s only the public pressure from a very vocal minority that has spooked the sponsors (donors) that is forcing Biden out.
