Also, Robert F. Kennedy is apparently expected to choose either Jesse Ventura, Aaron Rodgers, or Nicole Shanahan as his runningmate. Given that RFK can't win the presidential election, I hope that he chooses whichever runningmate is most likely to take Republican votes away from Trump, as opposed to Democratic votes away from Biden.
No clue about Aaron Rodgers, but from Nicole Shanahan's wiki page, she seems to support almost exclusively "democrat" causes. In fact, it seems to contradict her funding of RFK's superbowl ad, as he seems far more fringe than she appears. Jesse Ventura seems like a more natural match, but doesn't seem likely to draw Trump voters. I guess he might draw fiscal conservatives who are disillusioned with the social agenda of the MAGAGOP?

Ah okay. Aaron Rodgers was a vocal anti-vaxxer during covid, so I imagine he's more likely to appeal to Republicans than Democrats. That being said, RFK has also made some stupid comments about vaccines in the past, so maybe Rodgers's position is just redundant. I can't imagine AR is going to do much on the political side of things, given his lack of experience.
If I were a Democrat, I would first of all be busy living my life as it's currently March, then I'd wait and see what my party decided was important and spoke about at their convention, assuming our nominee can still speak, and what they promised in the general election and what their platform was, then I'd weigh that against rigging a primary to prop up a guy who repeatedly doesn't know who the leaders of different countries are, including his own that he is the leader of. I'd also weigh that against what the other guy actually says about things that matter, for example in debates. I'd take into consideration that electing the leader of the free world is not the same decision as choosing a doctor, and so wouldn't be subject to the same criteria. I'd also remember that an election is not gambling - you don't get any extra points for choosing the winner - and with that in mind I'd certainly be open to voting for a guy who ran as an independent in order to spark a reckoning in my own party, if nothing more than as a statement that the political and corporate establishment don't choose presidents in this country. Very little of that would hinge on the independent's choice of running mate as any VP would be better than Kamala, and they would presumably have a much lower chance of succession as well, assuming that Mayorkas ever grants Secret Service protection to his boss's #2 political threat.
When you say things like "assuming our nominee can still speak" and "a guy who repeatedly doesn't know who the leaders of different countries are", it sounds like your advice is just as relevant for Republicans as it is for Democrats lol. I guess Trump has about 91 other important things to worry about, though, besides his oratory and memory failings...
Anyways, who do you think would be the best VP choice for Biden?
I sympathize with the D's a lot in this situation. Obviously the best case scenario would have been if they could just convince Biden to not run again. I'm sure they tried that and failed. After that it's clearly a lose-lose situation. Trying to primary your incumbent President would likely end in a disaster. But it's not much worse than hitching your trailer to a puttering old truck and hoping it gets to your destination before it breaks down. From what I understand the campaign cycle is mentally and physically grueling. Biden's advisers are going to have to pick a strategy between putting him out there and hoping he remains coherent or hiding him from the press and declining interviews/debates. It's a big gamble either way. People expect to see the candidate on the campaign trail so hiding him away won't instill any confidence but they also don't want to see the amount of flubs Biden is capable of dishing out.
I mean if we're calling a game of flubs and how coherent each candidate is Trump is failing pretty hard. He regularly forgets whos president currently and just decides to tell people that the people he wants to put in camps arn't human beings. Sometimes he can't say letters and just starts slurring his words like thats something someone with dementia wouldn't be doing.
I don't know if you saw anything from the state of the union but if you think anyone has a reason to call biden a "putting old truck" you should really look yourself in the mirror and see who you're suppose to be supporting. The guy whos going to be in court for crimes he isn't even trying anymore to deny that he did. Hes openly taking money from russian linked sources and has told foreign leaders he wants to submit to russia at the soonest opportunity.
RFK Jr takes more votes from republicans than democrats. Especially if he takes aaron Rodgers or the woman who cheated on her husband with elon musk.
Sure, if it were solely a game of flubs than you could let Trump outpace Biden by allowing him to hold rallies and be front and center in the press 24/7 while Biden holes up in the White house and declines interviews and debates. But that's not a great look for Biden either, as I was saying.
Both Trump and Biden remind me of boxers out on their feet. They can passably do their usual schticks, but when confronted with stuff that requires them to deviate from their practiced patterns, the deterioration is more obvious.
Biden's a far more practiced politician, so that would seem to favor him. On the other hand, Trump's default style has a wide appeal in the US as it's come to treat modern politics more like pro wrestling mixed with football.
If politics hadn't shifted like they have over the last decade or so I'd say it's an easy win for Biden, but a carnival barker default might meet the moment in modern US politics better than a typical politician default.

There's a difference between giving a once-a-year prepared speech that you have plenty of time to rehearse for than being on the campaign trail, answering questions and speaking off-script. Let's not pretend this is some hot take just because it's coming from me. It's a widely held opinion that Biden lacks the mental sharpness for another term. If you think that's untrue why don't you think his advisers do more to put him front and center to prove otherwise? Why do they decline interviews and press conferences? Why won't they commit to debates? Seems like his advisers agree more with me.

Just want to save it for when the dimentia gets even more out of control.

Trump clearly has more mental sharpness right now than Biden. Not sure what you hope to accomplish by getting this on the record. You know that you can't rate the truthfulness of past statements based on some changes that may or may not happen in the future, right?

Trump has repeatedly insisted he is running against Obama, Biden was defeated by Obama and a bunch of other confused drivel over the last few days. Biden's gaffes aren't great, but I think it was a huge mistake of Trump to try to make this election about whose more senile. Hell, this is the guy who tweeted "covfefe" 6 years ago...

Found the snippet you’re quoting. A fly buzzes around him on stage so he does some half-serious ad libbing about flies while pandering to his base by implying that the red meat republicans can’t harm flies because of pussy liberal animal rights activists. Ok… that’s pretty on brand from Trump. Hardly incoherent.
Once again this just reinforces my point. Trump gets up and talks off the cuff for hours on end and tweets every thought that comes through his mind. If Biden goes off script for 2 minutes it’s a disaster.
Does anyone think we'll have general election debates between Trump and Biden, like we did in 2020? Based on how much shit-talking Trump does against Biden, it sounds like Trump feels he'd wipe the floor with Biden in a debate (not that Trump knows how to actually debate in good faith). On the other hand, Trump had been purposely avoiding debates all throughout the primary, so I wonder if he'll avoid debating Biden too.
The debate would simply be Trump yelling incoherently over Biden, and interrupting the moderator and Biden all the time, much like in 2020 vs. Biden and in 2016 vs. Clinton, while Biden struggles to get a word in edgewise, so I can't imagine it would be any better than a shitshow. Trump dominating the conversation with memes and bullshit and superficial taglines could arguably galvanize voters who like the optics of a macho, alpha bully, especially if Biden comes off as meek and powerless next to Trump, so I think that Biden may have a little bit more to lose than Trump in such a debate.

I'm struggling to understand how Trump demonstrating that he's got a short attention span and is easily distracted can be spun as a positive thing.

Because Trump said so. No literally that.
I sadly can't find where I saw it recently but Trump was at a rally talking about how his inability to coherent thought for more then 2 seconds was actually a sign of his great intelligence because he would jump from topic to topic and that is supposedly really hard to do, and it was a sign of how good his brain was.
Edit: Here we go, 5:05 is the clip about him supposedly being smart by jumping around topics.
