Really cheap methods to brainwash people, but I hope not many people fall for them.
I remember someone here parroting the whole nazi stuff, just like they did the kremlin clinton stuff and then the kremlin Biden stuff
If this isn't a good reason to use a military, what is? Is there any situation where the US military should be used? I'm honestly curious what people think. I see a lot of people say the US should do nothing no matter what. What if this happens while we sat on hands sucking our own dicks for being so calm and collected?
You're basically advocating for WW3. There's no way the US gets involved with Putin with his hands on the red button. It just isn't happening so look for another solution where the US isn't involved. The only military going to fight will be Ukraine and other EU nations. The US will not go to war with an unstable Russian regime. Get that out of your head Mohdoo.
So what is your red line then? What would Russia do to make you say "ok, I guess this is just how its gotta be"? If Putin bombed Canada, would you say "Well we can't go starting WW3 or anything"? I understand if you think people in Ukraine aren't worth saving, so I am asking which people you think are worth saving. What would be a situation where you support US military engaging Russia?
Ukraine is not part of NATO and is not officially a US ally. Not that ever stopped US from interfering with anything, but surely you can recognise when things are a bit different when it comes to nuclear powers.

It's not just ridiculous propaganda from Kremlin that since the Orange revolution there was a strong push against Russian-language minorities in Ukraine. That does not justify a fucking invasion obviously, but writing anything remotely negative about Ukraine off as 'Kremlin propaganda' is honestly stupid.

I hope there can be some negotiated ceasefire before things get really ugly.
I see March 2nd being floated as a "semi-confirmed" date. Although the last ones started only like two days after they were originally agreed to be started on, so that's preliminary at best. All signs are that getting both sides actually into the talks and not balking at the concept is like pulling teeth.

They pack thermobaric rockets which have the double effect of blast wave + vacuum.
This video is horrifying.. Imagine being on the wrong end of that thing.
Yeah, it's pretty much a WMD - if you don't get hit by the blast you'll suffocate afterwards as they suck out all oxygen in a large area.
Horrible. How is this kind of crap even allowed
How many people died? I recall when the World Trade Centers collapsed the initial casualty #s were grossly inflated. It'll be interesting to see if the same thing happens in this case.

We have someone in this thread talking about how dangerous their situation is and that they hope to make it out of there alive. Somehow, you think it’s appropriate to wonder out loud if the death numbers are inflated.
At the time of the attacks, media reports suggested that tens of thousands might have been killed. Estimates of the number of people in the Twin Towers when attacked on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, range between 14,000 and 19,000. The National Institute of Standards and Technology estimated that approximately 17,400 civilians were in the World Trade Center complex at the time of the attacks.[24] Turnstile counts from the Port Authority indicate that the number of people typically in the Twin Towers by 10:30 am was 14,154
I guess you get more viewers when you make inflated claims.

the issue isn't if 1, 10 or 1000 people died. The issue is the use of large scale weapons in civilian area's.
Edit: Weapons are not defined by their latest casualty figures, but by their potential.
In the absence of information, I would assume casualty estimates skew towards worst case.
As an 11 year old where the TV was taken out of the storage cabinet and we watched in horror on 9/11, the event itself is the story. It’s two buildings of huge symbolism collapsing in the world’s pre-eminent power, in real time.
As here I don’t think that appetite diminishes or increases with casualty tolls. The story is Russia engaging in an invasion of Ukraine.
We’re a tad spoiled these days and expect instant, accurate information from even the most chaotic places, it’s just not a realistic expectation

if a weapon is used in a civilian area and only 1 person dies that is evidence against it being a WMD. if 100,000 die... it is strong evidence it is a WMD.
The media wants views and clicks so they will run with anything sensational. So they want to call everything a "weapon of mass destruction".

A nuke doesn't stop being a WMD just because you set it off in an empty desert. Your argument is BS and you know it.
Whats your fucking point beyond "media lies" ? Didnt you overplay that argument or you cant stop beating that dead horse ? Do you understand that we have currently access to 2 different sources, so unless you want to trust moscow's # ...
On March 02 2022 02:09 Erasme wrote: # are being inflated obviously. Does it change anything about vacuum bombs being used on civilians ? No. What's your point ?
The scary part about this is, that theoretically there are tactical nuclear weapons with a lower yield than the largest thermobaric weapon in their arsenal afaik.
I'm sure the Chinese are very supportive of this. Watching their investments burn away while being forbidden to sell them.
MOSCOW — Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said Tuesday the government has readied measures to temporarily restrict foreign investors from divesting Russian assets, saying the step would help them make “a considered decision” rather than succumb to political pressure of sanctions.
Mishustin said a presidential decree had been prepared imposing “temporary restrictions on exiting from Russian assets.” He did not provide details or say if the restrictions would apply to some forms of investment or to all.
Major Western corporations have come under pressure to divest stakes in Russian companies. Oil company BP said Sunday it would seek to dispose of its stake in Russian oil producer Rosneft and Shell said Monday it would exit all its Russian businesses. Other companies with major stakes include France’s TotalEnergies, which holds 19.4% of natural gas company Novatek.
Russian officials have taken steps to cushion the impact of massive economic sanctions, with the central bank raising interest rates to defend the ruble’s exchange rate, requiring companies to sell foreign exchange earnings, and making unlimited short term credit available to banks.

Yeah, it is pretty disorienting trying to follow all the different reports, and not knowing which are accurate or not. We already lived in a climate of lies but in a war like this we can expect a lot of honest mistakes and confusion. This does feel a lot like 9/11.
