Why is the bottom right corner oriented differently from the three other starting locations?

Really nice Bw map but your link leads people who click it to Clay Fields. Make more maps like this maybe iccup would add it to their list.

whats up with those mineral onlys at 12 and 3?

I think it would be better if it were symmetrical. I'm imagining myself playing in top-left vs. an opponent in bottom-left. We each get to take a symmetrically placed natural, but the differences between 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock are obviously imbalanced and aggravating. The bottom-left spawning player can choose one of two locations for their 3rd base (8 o'clock or 6 o'clock) , both of which have defend-able ramps, and high ground. However, the top-left spawning player has to choose between expanding towards his opponent for a base with a geyser, or expanding away from his opponent with a low-ground, mineral-only base with exploitable open space behind the minerals, as well as no choke or high ground to help secure the position.
I can also see a few other scenarios where the asymmetry of the map/bases would lead to unfair positional advantages based on starting location. For example, in a split-map situation where one player has the top half of the map and the other player has the bottom half, the player with the top half of the map has an easier-to-defend mineral-only base (because it's positioned in the center of all their other bases). The mineral-only at 3/4 o'clock seems like a much easier position to attack into given the ramp and high ground at 3 o'clock, plus the fact that the base is positioned right on the edge of the opponent's occupied territory.
If you just re-oriented bottom-right to be the same as the other 3 starting locations, got rid of the weird mineral-only base at 3/4 o'clock, and mirrored the 12 o'clock base at 6 o'clock, it'd be fine I think.
