Thinking I'd probably grab Zelda, Mario Odyssey, and Mario Rabbids to play for now until Pokemon is released. Planning to play only exclusives as I already have PC and PS4

Switch (well, and obviously Let's Go when it's out). Never owned a Nintendo console before

Love it so much played it around 3 hours and i have 2 complaints already 1-) cinematic/main story dialogue happens way too slow. there is a short waiting period between every sentence and it drives me crazy 2-) random encounters are a little bit too common for my taste, i got some "wild zubat appeared" vibes in some areas already I would like it more if we had less common but harder random encounters

Planning to play only exclusives as I already have PC and PS4 Two things you should know: 1) A screen protector is a must unless you 100% know the Switch is never leaving docked mode. The screen easily gets scratched when you move it in and out of the dock 2) The storage is tiny. You'll likely need to add storage. We've seen some games where not all of it is on the cart and you still gotta download half of it even if you get the physical copy, so you might need to get more storage even if you plan on going all physical Maybe look up some footage of Splatoon 2 and see if it looks fun to you. It's my fav game on the Switch. Nintendo seems to be good at creating these low floor high ceiling games

I think I'll pick it up tomorrow. We got a pretty lengthy demo so that should help gauge whether or not you'd like it. Planning to play only exclusives as I already have PC and PS4 Must buys, no questions: Breath of the wild Mario Odyssey Mario kart Probably smash. Look to buy those when you can. Some other interesting games: Splatoon, Mario rabbieds, Xenoblade. Also don't discard any third party just because they exist in other consoles (and look better) because the switch has some great features. For example, it has gyro controls on fortnite and they are great. As always they are alkward at first, but then they are so precise it is amazing. Also, portability is a big deal. And I'm not talking about leaving the house, but just taking the Switch from the living room and the. Go into your bedroom, then the bad room and then play in your head until sleep is so comfortable. You won't need an SD card for first party games, so it's not necessary to buy it at first but eventually you will.

Talking about space, wouldn't going physical cartridges take very little space on the hard drive itself?

I greatly prefer physical copies of games myself, so the limited internal storage isn't an issue, but I know that that preference is becoming increasingly less widespread.

Some games, I believe Mega Man Legacy Collection is an example, has half the game on cart, so even if you go physical, you still have to download half the game. It's BS but I guess the best way is to just do research and not support games that do this

I thought they would put at least something in it but there was just a ~60kb installer to download the game :D

It just called it "downloading" instead of "installing". Nowadays the game has changed so dramatically that yes, you're essentially using the installer to trigger a 30GB download.

I thought they would put at least something in it but there was just a ~60kb installer to download the game :D It's less painful on PC because you could get large storage drives for cheap and if you have so many games that you start filling up your 3TB Hard drive, you can delete some of the 8 million games you've installed to free up space. For the Switch, if a single game takes up 1/5th of your SD card's drive, you pretty much have to factor in the price of your SD card every time you download something onto the Switch Earlier, Phantom said that you don't need an SD card intially, but eventually you will. I think that's pretty good advice. You don't need it right away, but if you find yourself running out of space, or you're downloading more games than you thought you would, you can buy your SD card then. No need to rush yourself into that purchase
