He got to the semifinals, I think he deserves a bit more respect than that. lol, the reason there were only two paragraphs is because he 9/9 gated and the game was over after a few minutes. Not much to say about a game like that besides...BackHo cheesed and won. What do you want, an essay about the beauty of 9/9 gate?

It was a short game it was cheesy rush what else is there to say 3. July is a heavy favorite in the popularity poll 4. Most people feel backho dosnt deserve to have even come this far including myself

I can't write 5 paragraphs describing a game like that. Each game got a length proportional to the length of the game - and game 3 was short. I sensed a bit of a July bias in that post. The one game Backho wins has maybe 2 paragraphs describing it? He got to the semifinals, I think he deserves a bit more respect than that. And yes, i have been waiting for Backho to slip up and get owned like he deserves because he simply did not belong in this osl semifinal. On top of that, i love July On July 09 2008 02:17 KlaCkoN wrote: Backho has one good matchup - PvP. He was able to defeat [an injured] Bisu to qualify, and somehow was able to beat much. He got dominated by Mind and his PvT hasn't had the best track record. Sure he beat Casy [on troy] to qualify, but what protoss doesn't beat Casy? But I really feel you and many others are underestimating Backhos' play. A guy in the semifinals of OSL does not suck, _especially_ not nowadays. He won vs jangbi for example... Backho did exactly what silver did in Pringles 2 - abuse one good matchup and get to the higher rounds of the competition. Backho's luck ran out when he was forced to play vZ, whereas Silver ran into Savior in the finals.[/quote] And in the series vs July I if anything got the feeling that backhos's mechanics, and especially his micro was way ahead of July's and that the only thing keeping tushin in the games was his better game sense. (and game sense prevailed just like it should ) Backho's micro was terrible in all games, bar game 3. Well, to be fair game 2 there wasn't any micro to speak of. Game 1 he completely mismanaged his forces and lost a ton in that first wave and game 4 he couldn't handle how to break a lurker wall. The only reason his attacks near the end looked so sharp was because he gave up on macro seeing as he had one set of minerals and knew he was all-in from that point onwards. Admittedly, July played poorly at the end of game 4; but he knew it was over and he knew that the series was over. As kwark said Backho was destroying july in game one until his game sense failed him and he missed the muta switch. I disagree, read my post on page 2 for more about game 1. Even if he had realised the switch, there was nothing he could do about it because he had no gas.And in game 4 he was fighting a lost game from the moment he miss-timed his cannons (or more likely july manipulated the timing to make him miss) and he absolutly HAD to cut some corners in order to get back into the game. The guardians were the perfect choice and he got raped. But even so whatching his army just plowing through that huge lurker wall and rallied _cracks_ from 6-8 hatches destroying 6 o'clock and continuing into the third... I am quite sure july would have lost that game if not for the initial mutas. Backho's poor scouting, a fundamental part of PvZ, failed him in that game. Skipping sairs means you need to keep that probe alive to know what is going on in the Zerg main else the Zerg can do anything he likes. His timing was off as well, but if July had tried to hydrabreak he would have been just as lost. Backho killing 6 was inevitable. July was playing sloppily and needed to collate his forces rather than send ~8 lings at a time into Backho's army. July was rich at that point too, 1200/1200 iirc and had ultralisk tech going up. He was fully in control of the game, but just sloppy. The defiler was too late and shoulve been earlier, but like i said, after he took out Backho's natural all he had to do was stop his army and he would have had the game in the bag. And well, he did. And don't write off the loss in game 3 as a BO loss either, any zerg opening execpt for maybe 9hatch 9pool is a micro war vs 9/9 gate and july lost. July manipulated Backho throughout the series, just as a Zerg master should. Backho had a number of sense weaknesses which really cost him as well. July was the better player and he won, simple as that. But thanks for the comment Makes me think about the series and analyze things deeper which is never a bad thing
