What is your suggestion for dumb teams? Sign a bunch of Reggie Jackson contracts and trade for a bunch of Blake Griffens? He'll the Clippers run of semi-relevance only existed because they got Blake and the NBA tampered on their behalf.

If you don't like tanking, actually fix the problem and eliminate the draft, which is a creepy and bad system to begin with. Slapping Band-Aids onto the system is just stupid.

Fix tanking? Easy end the draft. Kids can declare for free agency at whatever age they put in the cba. There, done.

There are no systems available that create parity while eliminating tanking. Everything has a major drawback that you haven't thought about yet. The NBA has tried to come up with incentives to keep the Durants of the world to stay with their small market teams. It always blows up in their face with unintended consequences. You know what happens with lottery reform that gives greater odds for teams with better records? It gives the Spurs of the world an incentive to hold Kawhi out and get a nice draft pick. You bet some owners who would just get swept by the Rockets and Warriors of the world would just rather punt the playoffs in exchange for that high draft pick you want to give them. That's tanking too, but by better teams closer to contention. That would be even worse than bad teams tanking. In some cases, bad teams are so bad you can't tell whether they are tanking or not. It would be very easy to spot a playoff contender tanking.

That won't change if they are 18 year olds, in fact it might be worse. You think some 18-19 year old wouldn't rather live in south beach then Milwaukee? The draft was brought in because LA and bos were getting ALL the talent. LA and Boston were getting all the good players because they were trading picks with stupid teams. The NBA back then was a pretty rigged game. Most teams didn't have any idea on how to value players and picks...shit this might not have changed so much. Regarding rookie FAs- remember the hard cap 😎. If LA or any other big market team wants to sign a rookie 5x the price other teams will - let them. They've just used a ton of space to do so. Whether the player is good or not they're limited in signing other valuable players because they've blown their cap.

There, done. thats very wishful thinking. the PA will never agree to let rookies be FAs from the start and sign big contracts, and nor will the owners. because that takes away money from players that are in the league already (u think they will be ok with rookies being FAs while they had to put in years of work to get there?) and the owners dont want to spend tons of money on unproven talent.

+ Show Spoiler + Shams 1 Woj 0 another clear endorsement of Ujiri and Casey as team builders. + Show Spoiler + Casey is constantly screwing-with//staggering CJ Miles minutes... so for CJ to say this means a lot.

That is true. However, all "draft reform" so far is just defeating the purpose of a draft, which is to make bad teams better.

Woj wiped the floor with shams. ya, i'm just counting the Smart thing. i'm surprised Woj accepted and propogated the "sprain" explanation when Smart is going to the best hand orthopeadist on planet earth for a 2nd opinion on surgery. the story now is Smart will be out for 6 to 8 weeks. That sounds like a tear and the surgeon is sewing the ligament back together. its not like an ACL thing where they "build" a new ligament. So i guess that is good news.
