You might know me from doing some melee maps, but I decided to do some UMS maps. SC1 UMS maps like Turret Defense in Space and Lurker Defense (I can't find the original anywhere) are actually what got me into mapping in the first place, years back.
I wanted to create a Lurker Defense map because there are none on the arcade at the moment and that is a tragedy! I set about creating a new Lurker D map, trying to preserve the simple style of old school defense maps (even before tower defense was a thing!) while introducing some new concepts that I think add to the fun and strategic depth of the map.

In the original map, it was simple. Don't let any terrans or protoss get by or you lose! FFA survival. This map is also FFA survival, but you get 50 lives. You can also upgrade your Hydralisks into more than just lurkers, I've added Hunter-Killers, Baneling Launchers, Infested Marines, Sniperlisks, and Kerrigan.

Other than that, its pretty straightforward, simple - but hard to beat! I have only gotten to level 35 out of 40 so far. Let me know if you manage to finish it.

yaaaay, finally another one of the great BW maps are remade in sc2 !!! And it sounds like you even improved it with the sc2 editor possibilities. Good job, i will test it as soon as i get back from holidays in 6 days.

I'm still tweaking things and fixing bugs, maybe once I have a more finalized version and someone offers to host it on EU.
edit - Watched someone get to level 38 today!

Oh my god, I wasted so many hours on Lurker D in Space a decade ago. If anyone can find the original, link it here :D

fyi baneling launchers are imba. you can target your own units and they mass up banelings without detonating, than attack the waves like 10 banelings per launcher. i just rushed for 5 bane launchers and won game so ez spending all money on upgrades / hydra snipers. great game but def need to fix this

Thanks, I fixed this; you can no longer target friendlies with the baneling launcher.

this map is great!
did you guys actaully add the Forcefields on the sides so that mazing is possible?

Without the forcefields, you could just make a wall of hydras, and the units are too stupid to attack like in BW. The forcefields are invisible and only enemy units can pass through them. I've been looking for ways to allow true mazing - there are methods which prevent walling when buildings are involved, but no method exists for stopping units from making walls. I had to innovate, and thats the best I could do. (the problem is that the triggers I've tried don't recognize that routes become unpathable when units are the things doing the blocking, only buildings.)

meh, just mass kerrigan can take you to wave 39 ( thats where i died ), spam razorswarm everywhere
