So I won one of those facebook contests you see all the time. I couldnt believe it, I never win anything ever! It was a promotion being run by HP Canada for their Omen brand.
After 7 months of waiting, I finally got the prize: a 17inch Omen gaming laptop -- plus a hoodie with the Omen logo 
i7 7700HQ
32gb DDR4 RAM
GTX 1070
4K G-Sync screen
Quite a step up from my old rig which had a 4th gen i5, a gtx 960, and 8gb of ddr3 ram.
So this thing is fast! The 960 is too far below that its hard to tell how good the mobile version of the 1070 really is. From everything I've read, its supposed to be as fast, maybe 5% slower than a stock desktop 1070. Witcher 3 maxed with hairworks - 1080p 60 fps easy. Just played fallout 4 at 1440p maxed and based on the fan noise, it didnt sound like it was being pushed at all. Rise of the tomb raider with VXAO is still ridiculously demanding. From what I remember, there were drops to 50fps at geothermal valley. And this is at 1080p.
Gotta hand it to my 960 though, it really served me well considering how dirt cheap it was when I got it.
So the RAM and the screen are just overkill imo. 32gb really? I'm sure some users out there can make use of 32gb. I'm just not one of them. And the 4k screen on a 17inch monitor is just bordering on useless unfortunately. And then there is G-Sync. I've read and heard great things about G-sync but so far I'm not impressed. Gotta do more testing -- although the screen is so small for my taste that I dont know how much I will even game on it. Would rather game on the living room tv or on my 27in 1080p monitor.

Seems pretty sweet. I personally wouldn't buy that laptop, but I would be very happy to get it for free! Congrats

yes I personally never would have bought this either, or any other gaming laptop for that matter...
I seriously considered just selling this one and using the money to build a brand new rig

I won a bunch of these contests when I was a child. It's like reading the book 'It' (still haven't seen the movie).
