Hi ya'll, so I've been switching to protoss (broodwar) lately, and just like when I played them in high school, my lower right back hurts like crazy when I play/practice as toss (think Backho). I played zerg for 10 years after college, and that just made my fingers and eyes hurt, now that I am back to toss my back is hurting, and I was wondering if anyone had some input; regardless of toss per se, just ideas for easing my back while practicing, I'm very big on being comfortable when I play, I practice vs the computer carefully monitoring my posture, tapping the keys very softly etc.
So, toss my back hurts, zerg my eyes/fingers hurt, terran I've noticed my right arm gets very sore.. Thought I would post here since it didn't seem important enough for the BW strategy/general forums...
So far, I have two ideas... Could I do some practice perhaps off the chair and kneeling? (1)That was one idea I had. Or maybe taking an ibprofin and just stopping sc, while breathing and easing my back?(2) I'm actually thinking the latter might work well, perhaps just getting off the horse and relaxing the tense area until I'm good to go again? Anyone have any experiences with discomfort while crafting and fixing body issues...? SC is kind of a sport (esport) after all... So I thought this might be interesting to hear form any players of SC (or SC2... That's fine.) Any input would be appreciated. The former are the best ideas I can think of as I type this... So I'll take my own advice and report back. For any zergies, I'd highly reccomend listening to how hard you hit the keyboard, how you hold the mouse, during a practice game vs the comp... For terrans, I play piano, so I am pretty aware of that right-arm pain(i.e. Flash) so it tends to go to my deep back of my right shoulder, then goes away after I rest a little. Just thought I'd add my thoughts if anyone has ever/never thought about these issues...
Any discussion of healthy form (posture, Feldenkrais, Alexander technique, musicianship, forms etc...) would be awesome. Thank you. God bless ya'll.

I play Protoss when I play team games on Starcraft, and my back often starts to hurt too. I think it's from carrying my team so hard.

My back hurts when I play Protoss as well. I find that it helps to stop playing Protoss.

Just cannon rush or proxy gate... lowers the duration of game making Protoss more enjoyable

Gotta limber up and use those hips.

Did you sit down with the wallet in your right butt pocket often?

It's a little funny that your back hurts only when you play a certain race. This reminds me of me playing piano. Sometimes, when I pratice a fairly new and difficult piece, I hunch down on the stool and practice and practice... Only after the fact do I feel my whole back hurts because I tensed up like hell.
Are you sure you are as relaxed when playing protoss as when playing zerg?

As for piano, id reccomend trying to play eithout your thumbs as it keeps your arms in a good place as the thumbs were designed for gripping objects but your other four fingers are good for controlling the inflection
You can also try moving the bench further back, like way back with your bottom way back on the wood, happy to help, i actually play/sing to ease the tension from sc
Anyway, as to your question, yes im more used to zerg so i am not as relaxed as when im zerg when i pick toss, but my eyes and fingertips are much more comfy;; ive noticed terran will really hurt your right arm if you play a long t session
And thank you to the person who said to limber up and use those hips

That's because playing Protoss requires one to have a spine, unlike other factions
