+ Show Spoiler + I saw Midas at a grocery store in Bucheon yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. That's really cool though, I'd stalk that grocery store and coincidentally run into him again

Chances of seeing him again are low ^^ I know but it just feels so awkward you know, I'm quite shy too but he seems insanely shy that I have no idea if I am annoying him or not, it was fun enough to be able to talk to him a bit anyway, I am satisfied haha. I wish I could find a way to tell him online instead. My korean is pretty bad and my wife is just as shy as midas so she just cant say anything either.

When I was at BlizzCon 2016 because my brother-in-law wanted me to get into SC2, we were in the SC2 championship stadium when my wife saw a tweet that Jaedong was on site giving an interview for ESPN ESports. The tweet was 15 minutes old, but she recognized the statue of Infested Kerrigan that Jaedong was posing in front of as one that was nearby in the convention center. So we ran out of the championship stadium to the Kerrigan statue and saw that he really was doing an interview nearby, and we lurked around the periphery of the interview area for 10 minutes or so (or actually my wife lurked while I ran back to the stadium, grabbed a blank fan sign and some markers, ran back to the interview area, and started working on a Jaedong fan sign). There weren't any fans around except for a group of 4 people also waiting for him. When Jaedong got out, he talked with the 4 people (I'm guessing they were his hosting party or guides or something) while we waited awkwardly. We finally caught his eye and I spoke with him briefly in English. Unlike you, Essbee, I don't speak a word of Korean, but I know from interviews that Jaedong speaks pretty decent English, so I tried to speak as I would with any nonnative speaker, clearly and without using rare words. I explained that we'd been his fans since 2008 and really admired his play. Unfortunately, either I wasn't communicating too well or Jaedong was caught off guard, as he didn't really say any English words and instead of kind of nodded and said "ahh..." several times. I showed him my "Lee Jaedong fans forever" sign with zerglings, hydras, mutas, and ultras drawn on it, and he signed it and we shook hands, but he seemed nonplussed during our brief interaction. I can totally understand that he was surprised and that it might have been different if I spoke Korean, but I'd have been over the moon if he'd smiled, said "Thank you," or "seemed satisfied" as in the anecdote above --- our meeting was pretty much just very awkward. There were a lot of things I'd have wanted to share, especially since his SC2 career wasn't going great (this was right as he was retiring from SC2). I wanted to explain that we were his fans from years ago and we thought he was awesome no matter what game he was playing or whether he played any games at all, and that I used to stay up all night to watch BW live in California, and that the first game of his that I watched was against Kim Taek-Yong on Blue Storm. But I didn't get a chance to say any of that stuff. Sooo.... Even though you didn't get to tell Midas everything you wanted to, it sounds to me like he'll definitely remember you as an enthusiastic fan who spoke Korean, and maybe progamers don't get recognized in grocery stores all that often! I'd call it a big success and I'm happy that you had that chance
