Not a bad banner. I don't really see the point in summoning for tiltyu, her stat spread is just Linde but slightly worse. If you really don't have linde and cant get an odin, I guess it's ok? But Olwen is still a better bladetome user.
I have Olwen but I would kind of like a second killer blue tome for Arena Assault or special maps where for whatever reason Olwen doesn't work well. And I don't have Linde so that blue tome infantry slot is open (not including RobinM, but his role is a bit different). I figure if I'm pulling for Tilty and get Linde then that is a-okay with me.

there's a ton of blue pity-rate killers that you don't want (if i get another 5* abel UGH)
|
Or you could get your 3rd 5* Nowi, which happened to me. Actually, both these banners are only throwing pity breakers at me right now. I just want a 40% bonus hero for TT, is that too much to ask for.

I just had the most clutch finish to an arena run, I think I've ever had. Was trying to break my personal highscore in Arena with a different arena team than usual.
Xander - Phys tank + assist with blue mages/other tricky units with ignis proc. hone calv. CYL Lyn - Default kit, main DPS. fort calv. Summoner support + linked with xander. Y Tiki - Arena Weight build with Light Breath+ and Fury for some help with damage. Black Knight - pure Arena Weight build as a Repos + Panic Ploy bot.
was 6-0 and deathless at 4206. I got offered the first 706 match I've ever gotten. It was a team with Sonya and 3x tanky Lightbreath+ dragons that had a combined total of 24 merges. Managed to pick off the first 3 of them pretty cleanly, however, everyone was at half health, except for BK. Had to spent about 10 turns maneuvering around the map because the enemy Tiki was camping the defensive tiles in the middle of the map. At one point I had to intentionally tank a hit on BLyn so that BK could WoM out of a corner. Eventually, after gaining better positioning on the map, I realized that if I managed to: - get Xander onto a defensive tile on the map - with Fortify Calv from Lyn - Spur Spd 3 from Ytiki - without procing enemy Tiki's attack so she doesnt get bonfire proc. (she and xander were both 1 charge away) Xander would survive the hit because he would only be 4 speed apart, with 1 hp, and counter attack with Ignis for lethal. Did my math right, and clutched that shit so hard. + Show Spoiler +
hype.

Dang, and with 3 reds +1 colorless... Did you not run into RobinM or were they all just strong enough to beat him regardless? Anyway congrats on the 4.9k! I still haven't gotten past 4860.

I'd be more worried about Reinhardt, seems difficult to avoid losing someone to him with so many reds around.

Thinking about playing through Awakening a second time, but establishing some rules so that I'm not allowed to abuse the hell out of the game. The rules I'm thinking about are:
No encounters, DLCs or any of that stuff. No buying Nosferatu tomes. Max 10 staff uses/dances per character per map. Otherwise there is nothing stopping me from just leveling the dancer up to lvl30 the first mission I get her. Lunatic+
Anything else abuseable that I'm forgetting? Also, how often do the enemies have the special L+ abilities? Do like 1/3 of them have counter, or is it more like 1/10?

Honestly the most broken thing in Awakening is just the Avatar and the Veteran skill. Even if you don't outright abuse Sorcerer, Veteran breaks the XP curve so quickly anyway.
That said, you kind of need it on L+.

This doesn't really matter, tbh. Olivia's bases are so bad that even if you leveled her to 30/-- on her join chapter, she'd still have <15 Str on average and not really do enough to make her worth using as a combat unit over just dancing. Be as strict as you want but <10 Staff uses is just an annoying limitation, especially since once Rescue staves become buyable, Rescue spam becomes one of the easiest way to traverse the game's most tedious maps.

oh shit. I was thinking about building a dodgemaster Lon'qu with all the things he can reclass into, but like 1/3 of enemies are going to have hawkeye, right? In that case Ill have to seriously rethink my plans LOL
Maybe change it to 10 heals/map and 10 rescues, since they are expensive enough I probably wont use them for exp abuse anyway.
Errr, I could dance to level30 and then second seal back to dancer and max out all my stats before reclassing. I prefer to be restrained by hard rules rather than common sense when tryharding in a game.

Second Seals are non-infinite at the point where Olivia is recruited and have much better users by that point anyway. The early game Second Seals are best used almost immediately and not doing so just to dump them on Olivia later is really not helping you in any way.

I guess I was very optimistic regarding my ability to get to chapter 11 LOL Currently hardstuck on chapter 2
Am I supposed to finish this without sacrificing characters? Alright, actually gonna have to be VERY creative about feeding the maximum amount of exp to Avatar in the previous chapters, lol.

Yes.
Without some very specific strategies (and potentially some amount of rigging), L+ devolves to a lot of resetting to avoid nightmare skill combinations.
I've never played it past the first few chapters because I find it utterly un-fun. If you're going to do a challenge run, Lunatic has much more room to actually play with.

So Genealogy of the Holy War is pretty interesting. Story seems pretty dark and Game of Thrones-y story, which is good (although the dialogue is a little heavy-handed with the exposition). The plot also moves a little fast for me, but I think that's because so much more happens per level. Speaking of which, the maps feel hit-or-miss; first couple are good, but the Agusty ones pull you back and forth, which could be cool if you actually had to divide your army or there were some kind of uncertainty about where you would get attacked... but since it's pretty predictable, you can just move your army back before you seize a castle with Sigurd. Also, they're so big that it
Speed not translating to attacking twice is weird. Some of the abilities are weird. Repairing weapons is neat. Arena seems straight up busted, especially with Ayra, who can just keep attempting until she procs Astra. Curious about how the relationships work - is it like other FE 7-9 where ending a turn next to the ally increases support level, or is it more complicated, or is it just pre-set (does Aithleen always fall in love with Dew?)?
Is it cheating if you make heavy use of the autosave feature? It's built into the game, and it seems necessary given the size of the maps, but after more recent FE games, it feels a little scummy.
All in all, I'd love it if they remastered the game for current gen. Could potentially do some neat things with the large-scale campaign style of the maps, and a decent story would be a nice change of pace.

Relationship growth in FE4 has 3 components--base value, growth, and conversation bonuses. Growth applies every turn the characters are deployed on the map, and the two characters will marry once they hit 500 love points. Being adjacent will increase growth by 5, but is not strictly necessary for many pairings.
Aideen usually will end up paired with Midir or Jamke since they have the highest base value and significant convos. However, Dew does have a convo as well so its not impossible for him to end up paired with her if they stick together.
|
So you CAN recruit Jamke... it doesn't show that Aideen has a pending Talk with him once he reappears on the map (I assume she's the one who recruits him), and it was believable to me (knowing that so many of these characters are fated to die anyway) that he was just there for some added tragedy. I might still have tried talking to him with Aideen, but it's so late in the level (and I didn't know about autosaves) that I didn't want to risk it.
In any case, it's hard to imagine him being better than Bridget.
|
The most valuable thing about recruiting Jamke is being able to sell the Killer Bow for Midir to buy. Jamke as a unit isn't great.

I have been saving up feather for the last month try and build a super-merged arena weight SI'd character though. Not sure who I want to do yet, but I'm probably going to need about 200k+ feathers for it, and i'm up to 50k~ rn.

Lyn pretty cleanly takes out Reinhardt, especially with Fortify/Hone + DD3 Seal on defense (I think my Lyn might be +res, dont remember for sure though cause I remember I was just sad she wasnt +atk or +spd). Actually there's so much anti-Reinhardt tech (Robin, Titania, Nino, Sonya, Julia, BIke, + pretty much every DD/glacies counterattack build) that the meta seems to be switching more towards Lyn as primary cavalry DPS. She also has higher BST for arena.
edit: sorry for double post, was going to edit it into my first but i forgot.
