Let's just hope that it won't end up being super zoomed out like the widescreen hack that exists now. Not to mention that a resolution change of this nature would certainly affect the game if you consider the task bar at the bottom and different spawn locations on popular maps.

An HD version is good from every angle, so please stop being negative and have some hope, blizzard, believe it or not, is a smart company. Just because they made a few bad games and decisions doesn't make them satan. BW is a better game then sc2 but western players couldn't care less, and please don't tell me the western community is strong because it isn't, at all. I'm still watching commentary's in korean, if the western scene was truly strong there would be english commentaries for almost every great game so far. An HD remake done well means new games by pros, commentated in english by professionals, and a vast, new and excited playerbase ready to learn the game against people of similar skill, not a gigantic pool of try hards who's basic muscle memory of bw is 4x that of a regular player at his top form.

Just put in ALL units from SC1 and SC2 together and the game will randomly morph between SC1 graphics and SC2 graphics and players have to quickly adapt between the changing game environment. When it's SC1 it's BW units only. SC2, then SC2 units only. SC2 units can morph into SC1 graphics when the change occurs and vice versa. The best players are the ones that can adapt to the bad AI of SC1 and the deathballs of SC2. It would be glorious. Edit: And rocks and watch towers would just randomly spawn during each morph because fuck it.

The new generation that has never played BW before. Every new game that shows up in the bnet launcher will have tons of people trying it out.

Matchmaking alone makes such a big difference. Simply having to click on a few buttons is just a quality of live feature no game these days can't have if it wants to generate an audience. Higher resolution graphics also surely help a ton. Lot of things which could make it successful (enough)

I don't think that would stop big name players from trying it though, especially if there's tournament money on the line.

They all ended up getting SC2 though. currently, most of the SC2 clan i'm in consists of guppies with full time jobs; they love RTS but don't have much time to devote to the game. They range from bronze to gold and there is no way any of them are moving over to the Brood War shark tank. Brood War has as much of a chance of making a come back as Led Zeppelin.
