So it is more than just an isolated incident. that said, 1 chance meeting doesn't really show whether or not a guy is an idiot. everyone has bad days. i've met some of the most polite and affable canadian politicians who will royally fuck over any one in their way behind closed doors in the most brutal ways imaginable. taking his entire career as a complete body of work Mir has been a good guy. however, he needs to retire now. I always though Mir was kind of a douche but...
My Mom and Aunt sat at a table with Joe Silva and Frank Mir at an Atheist conference and had nothing but good things to say about both of them. I was always a semi-fan after that. I also agree he should retire at this point.

Finally. Lol at that guy comparing MMA to gay porn.

The UFC is a joke. Instead of giving Aldo a rematch, who lost via a one-punch KO in 13 seconds, or Frankie Edgar who seriously deserves a title shot, Dana has decided to put the featherweight belt on hold and book a McGregor - Nate rematch.
Yeah, let's give a rematch to someone who demolished and humilated McGregor. Makes sense.
Pathetic.

It will be pretty hilarious if McGregor gets murked again.

This is a decision I can't understand. At all. Of all the possible fights out there for Conor right now, an immediate rematch with a guy who was a late stand-in for somebody else is absolutely NOT what most fans want to see next.

I agree, but my gripe isn't about a rematch with Aldo - I'm angry because of Dana's greed and stupidity.
Whereas in past matchups, even when someone was getting screwed over, we could at least understand that Dana wanted to book a certain fight because it would make more money (McGregor vs Dos Anjos, for example, is definitely more exciting than McGregor vs Edgar or Aldo), but this time not only is Dana screwing over someone like Edgar (and pretty much the entire featherweight division), he's giving us a meaningless fight we don't want to see.
Diaz stepped in when no one else would because Dos Anjos got injured. That's fine. Better than not having any fight at all. But now that that's over with, why the rematch? It's so obvious Dana is desperately trying to make Connor's loss look like a fluke. It's so pathetic it's sickening.
|
The biggest problem I have with the rematch is its happening at 170 again. I mean Conor is a 145, Diaz a 155. Why in hell would they fight at 170 ? They are prob not even in the top 20 in that division.
It is prob just Conor calling the shots. He is a made man now and cant be arsed to cut weight anymore. Take 2-3 big fights then retire.

Diaz stepped in when no one else would because Dos Anjos got injured. That's fine. I think this decision could back fire for "greed", people can accept a lower weight champ going up and losing in higher weight, even the mighty mcgregor. He still maintains a lot of his mystique and character but if he rematches Diaz again to "correct a fluke" (it wasn't) and loses badly again I think McGregor's credibility/pull could be damaged with the casual viewer. It's very risky to do this rematch instead of letting sleeping dogs lie.
The second part is Diaz wasn't the only person to step in, Faber had a contract prior to Diaz but McGregor chose Diaz instead. I believe other fighters accepted the fight on short notice as well but I believe Faber was the biggest name.

A few months ago Dana "warned" Ariel about revealing inside info to the public by calling him a "click baiting liar". Now Dana has Ariel removed from Fox. I suspect Helwani will lose a few of his inside contacts/sources due to Dana squashing him. It'll be interesting to see how many stories Helwani can break now that he is an "outsider".
Helwani has more twitter followers than every UFC champ except Mcgregor.

Cris Cyborg makes her UFC debut at UFC 198 in Brazil. They are feeding her Leslie Smith.

This reminds of those really old 1990s WWF "Bum matches" when all they ever put on TV was a big name WWF guy against some total loser because they wanted you to pay for arena tickets to seen any decent matches. Like Randy "Macho Man" Savage against Ron Hutchison.
The highest odds i've ever heard of in a combat sports match was 43:1. I wonder if this match will break that number?

Which fight was that?

multiple sources report Cyborg walks around at 170.
i guess Cyborg is on the card because this UFC event will be held in a 40,000 seat stadium and htey want to sell the place out.
Smart move by the UFC to avoid feeding one of their top bantamweights to Cyborg. I wonder how many seconds the fight will last?

Here's hoping Rumble has been training. I'm having doubts that Jones will say out of trouble long enough to fight DC.
