KT won SC2 Proleague and produced a GSL champion before SKT did. Truly, a slap in the face. Plus, in the end they're both Telecom.
But now it's nowhere close to a rivalry. SKT has an unmatched line up. Their A-team is championship winners. Their B-team is "just" good. I'd be surprised if they lost any match in round robin format.
SKT's line up today is arguably worse in comparison to the field compared to when they lost the 2014 Proleague finals to KT.
SKT 2014 Proleague finals: Rain Parting Classic Fantasy Bravo Soulkey Dark SoO BravO
Today: Classic Dark Dream Impact Innovation Myungsik Sorry Zoun SoO
I don't think people remember just how ridiculous SKT's line up was for 2013-2014, SoO was arguably the second best player of the year and at least the most consistent, Parting was the best protoss coming into SKT, Classic and Rain were at least top 5, Dark was at least top 5, Soulkey was the best Zerg coming into SKT, Bravo was promising, and Fantasy only turned out to be a disappointment when he didn't perform. I think SKT's players had more finals appearances than KT had top 16's.
on paper the 2013-2014 lineup certainly looks stronger but the players didn't all perform to their best. Soulkey had a bad year, soO and Classic were incredible in individual tournaments but disappointed in proleague (compared to their standards), PartinG and Rain really carried the team in that year. Now all players seem to be absolutely on fire and perform in PL maybe even better then in individual tournaments.
edit: also they didn't really have a strong terran which is a disadvantage in PL.

Nah, I'm pretty sure kt has even or winning record against SKT. It's just thta they've been losing to Jin air so much and Jin air losing to SKT. I think it's like rock scissor paper relationship among kt, skt and jinair
Actually, No. In like all the recent proleague round robin matches, SKT has rekted KT, only like Zest and Stats used the power of protoss to rekt SKT in playoffs, now that protoss is weak, KT has no player that can take up the mantle since Flash left (I mean, he almost all-killed Jin Air) and Zest and Stats are only good in one matchup (Namely, PvT and PvP)

Rain went undefeated in playoff season.... (5:0), anyone else done that??

Then you could say both CJ and SKT used the power of ZvT to reck maru and steal the playoffs from Jinair, zergs had quite an unfair advantage in muta ling bane

not really, Maru was just mediocre at TvZ and SKT had 2 of the best ZvT players in the world
Apparently FlaSh was there with KT, too Ah, this is sad. We should have took the game. I think the reason why KT didn't send Zest was he has to play his GSL matches tomorrow

I gotta hurry up and visit Korean soon and meet him!

Then I guess equally kt had two of the best protosses and did not just use “the power of protoss ” to “steal” the playoffs from skt

Oh, wow, you take pride in that acievement?? that's a laughable achievement, KT FINALLY produced an individual championship in like 3 years after entering the SC2 scene. SKT produced a OSL champion (Just as hard as GSL) in Rain (Who also was the first KeSPA player to be in a GSL semifinal) like 3 months after the transfer from BW to SC2 in WOL..... try to beat that + Show Spoiler +
oh wait, YOU CAN'T LOL
SKT also had 2 full SKT players Starleague finals in 2014 and 1 in starleague and 1 KeSPa Cup SKT final in 2015, remind me how many GSL Finals were KT finals? + Show Spoiler +
oh wait, there were 0 finals
in HOTS, SKT was in 2 proleague finals: they won one, they lost one, and KT was only in one, and won it. so in terms of proleague. still SKT > KT And in BW until Flash came it was almost always SKT > KT, and then SKT still won some when Flash was on there team. so yeah.... In BW SKT won like 15 team Tournaments and KT won like, well...... 4 SKT has like 11 individual tournament wins in SC2 and KT has like, well...... 6 So in SC2 and BW SKT has 16 and KT has like well......5 which brings me to the conclusion: SKT has more Individual player championships in both BW and SC2 SKT has more dual finals in individual tournaments in SC2. SKt has a better all-time (both BW and SC2) head-to-head record against KT.
