Heroes Championship EU
What to Expect
The North American scene has been under the spotlight of scrutiny for the past month as top teams like Tempo Storm and Cloud9 made changes to their roster and teams like Murloc Geniuses and COGnitive completely disbanded or reformed, but just over the sea, the European scene quietly underwent its own transformation.
Only a few days before the BlizzCon Circuit announcement, Team Liquid’s Cris revealed, “So all really top EU teams swapped out at least two players” and that in Europe “a lot of teams still experiment a lot.” With teams like ROCCAT, G2, and mYinsanity retaining almost the same roster for nearly half a year or longer in 2015, Europe made a reputation for itself as being a somewhat stable atmosphere, rendering this news somewhat surprising. What’s more shocking is the way in which rosters have changed. Unlike NA, where the top three or four teams swapped high profile players around to maintain the status quo, many of the top players in EU have stepped down from the comfort of their home teams to start their own, and likewise many “unknown” players have risen to prominence within established organizations.
Today is the first of four qualifiers for the Spring Championship in Katowice. Many notable names like Elysium, EURONICS, Fnatic, mYinsanity, Natus Vincere, TCM, Dignitas, Team Liquid, and Virtus.Pro will be playing with exceptionally new rosters filled with tons of new names. Additionally, Monkeys of the Storm and Team Sandwich Monkey, a few rogue “super” teams made up of some of EU’s finest, will be playing; don’t be fooled by their goofy names, these teams aren’t playing around. This month will be a chance to meet some new players, check out their performance, and re-establish how the Heroes scene is growing in Europe.
Games today will be casted by Khaldor and Tetcher on Khaldor’s Twitch channel as well as SolidJake and Cooby on SolidJake’s Twitch channel. Be sure to tune in and watch!
