EG JD won his first GSL code A in three years...he stated, "I was very nervous, because I`d not been here for years. Though my preparation was quite poorer than that of other players, I did my best for the last few days. I`m glad that I can play games in Korea."
- Tell us what you feel; you advanced into Code A.
"I was very nervous, because I`d not been here for years. Though my preparation was quite poorer than that of other players, I did my best for the last few days. I`m glad that I can play games in Korea."
- Is there a reason why did you start practicing LotV so late?
"I had too many thoughts in my head and that`s why I`d not played HotS for a while. I could began practicing SC2 again several weeks after the release of LotV. I lacked motivation; I was lost then."
- Why did you decide to return to Korea?
"EG wanted me to play in WCS Circuit, and I could because I got athletic Visa. However, I want to play games in Korea. This should be the place where I spend my last days. Once I promised to my fans that 'I`ll return to Korea before my retirement." And I`m here to keep it."
- You lost the first series against Bomber.
"He played well. Personally, it`s a shame that I lost the 3rd set. I cannot stop thinking about it. I tried to advanced into the code A in the first place, but I lost; The vanquished should not talk too much.
- Why didn`t you applied for SSL?
"I thought it was meaningless without proper preparation."
- I am wondering if you`ll play for EG in 2016.
"My contract expires in February. I do not know what happens afterwards."
- Are you considering your retirement?
"Not yet. However, I have the word somewhere in my mind. But that`s not now. I still retain a lingering desire for progaming."
- Were you affected by other legends` retirement?
"I`d be lying if I said no. I had mingled feelings over Flash`s retirement ceremony, because he was a reliable player. Somehow, I felt lonely."
- Isn’t that depressing that you cannot participate in foreign Tournaments?
"I`d be lying if I said I`m not. Still, I want to play games in Korea."
- What are your goals for GSL?
"It is far too early to make some statements about it. I`ll prepare it well and won`t let you down."

Jaedong sounds pretty sad.
|
Sounds like he will retire after 2016 if not earlier to me.
Nice to see that he still wants to at least give it a shot in Korea, I really wish he joins a Kespa team after his contract with EG expires and give it his all one more time!

It has been a very long time since I heard from JD. It's good to hear that he still wants to compete even though legends are retiring one after another.
|
Sounds like he may try to join a KR team for one final season/try to make proleague finals then retire. Looking forward to his results!
|
Thank you for sharing the interview.
I love Jaedong. He is my number #1.
I hope he can win something big in Korea in 2016, but the competition is very strong.

This reads like an "about to retire" interview. Pretty sad, let's hope he'll stick around for a while after the EG contract expires at least...

Pleeeeeeeeeease Kespa team. His WCS performance was really embarassing ;(.

Well, he said his contract expires in February, so in theory he could join a Proleague team before round 2, or if he stays on EG they could partner him with a team (like the SBENU/MMA deal).

Hm yeah i guess. EG should definitely consider this, otherwise we won't see a lot of JD, especially if he loses to Leenock (which is quite possible )
|
Um... To be honest I did not like him because he was playing in WCS instead of GSL... but now... I don't know... Kinda sad for him...
It feels for him like his generation's time has passed and he just want to spend his last days in his home...

This is such a depressing interview. I hope he does well though, one of my favourite players.

He sounds so sad. I hope to see him in Proleague!

*puts fingers in his ears* CANNOT HEAR YOU!!! lalalalalalalalala!!!!
OK, my SC2 passiun reminds Titanic. 6 months ago it looked invincible(one may say unsinkable) and now it lays deep in the ocean of despair and sadness. So sad interview
JD, you have to remind yourself the year 2013 and start winning again! C'mon! Right now my beloved players are not playing or are retiring! I need some players I love to play this game so I have at least a small reason to care!
|
Here's hoping he'll join a Kespa team and somehow finds his old spark again. Unlikely, but you can always hope.
Retirement mid or late 2016 sounds more likely.
Either way, nice to hear from Jaedong again.

All of these players thinking about retiring at such a young age, it's really a shame.
Here's to hoping one day that eSports professionals play well into their 40's, like football, tennis, soccer, etc. Maybe one day there will be college sponsorships (I know theres a few here and there for league), so that players can get a degree and then continue playing professionally after school.
Dream~

- Then why did you start practicing LotV so late?
"I had too many thoughts in my head and that`s why I`d not played HotS for a while. I could began practicing SC2 again several weeks after the release of LotV. I lacked motivation; I was lost then."
"great" Interview. How about asking how he was lost and why, how he did find his motivation again?

come on JD I believe in you
