Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the news in Heroes of the Storm. As a new, blooming game, there’s a lot of stuff going on. Don’t worry, we've got you covered.
News
- Lunara, first daughter of Cenarius has entered the Nexus. As a ranged Assassin, Lunara has high mobility and deals high amounts of damage over time.
- This week marked the beginning of the Winter Veil event! Blizzard is giving players a free Festive Treasure Goblin mount for the duration of the event, and by simply playing games you’ll be able to unlock up to two weeks of free Stimpacks.
- Cloud9 became the first official Heroes of the Storm World Champions this past November at BlizzCon. To commemorate this event Blizzard has released a new Nexagon Mount featuring the Cloud9 logo so you can show the team your support.
- Dustin Browder has hinted that they will explore the idea of giving Sylvanas a replacement for Possession.
- The phase one of the improved matchmaking system has been deployed into the game. This new matchmaking system will focus on creating quality matches where every team is of similar MMR instead of finding a match as fast as possible. This has shown to increase the queue times, but hopefully the experience you’ll have in the match will make it worth it. This is only phase one, and there’s still much to be done. If you play any match that you think was unfair, Blizzard is open to listen to your feedback in the official Battle.net forums.
- Blizzard and Ahli have been working on a new replay and observer interface for Heroes of the Storm. This new interface gives viewers more information with less clutter, improving the current UI, . Very soon this new interface will be replacing the current one, but if you can’t wait, you can download it to start testing it right now.
- Kenma has shared an update about his team Bob Ross Fan Club, and...Cloud9.
- The post-BlizzCon shuffle continues. Sadly this time it’s a whole organization. CompLexity Gaming is parting ways with Heroes of the Storm. We wish all the players good luck in the future and we wait eagerly for the time of CompLexity’s return.
Tournaments
- The http://wiki.teamliquid.net/heroes/Gold_Series_Heroes_League_2015/Season_2 has come to an end. After a month of great matches, eStar Gaming became the champion by defeating the dark horse of the tournament, Zero Gaming, 4-1 in the finals. With this tournament, eStar solidifies itself as the best Chinese team and adds approximately $40,000 to their already sizeable earnings for a total of $304,717, the most of any Heroes of the Storm team. You can read more about the tournament here in our detailed review.
- http://wiki.teamliquid.net/heroes/Heroes_Battle_Arena also ended this week. Fnatic showed a very strong performance following the roster changes and stomped through both Na’Vi and Dignitas to secure the first place.
- The http://wiki.teamliquid.net/heroes/World_Cyber_Arena/2015 is finally over, and it was pretty much a let down in most regards. Cloud9, compLexity Gaming and Tempo Storm forfeited, leaving COGnitive Gaming as the sole North American representative. The tournament had major technical issues and apparently, the experience itself was pretty bad for the players that attended the event, as players like Liquid´Cris have publicly voiced their dissatisfaction. The games themselves were pretty good though. Team Liquid had a great run, placing first in Group B against very strong teams like eStar and MVP Black. Unfortunately for them, they would be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by team Oh My God, the fourth place of Group A. Eventually it came down to MVP Black vs eStar Gaming in the finals, with the Koreans showing dominance over their Chinese counterparts. A good tournament, tainted by bad organization.
