Ofc things could change and some of these four could lose momentum until BlizzCon happens. | ||

#2 Seed, 6050 WCS Points. Facing Rogue in the WCS Global Finals Round of 16. WCS match record - Total: 29-14, vsT: 6-3, vsZ: 8-3, vsP: 15-8 Maru was the 2nd player to hit 100% after Life won GSL. Maru hit 100% on March 25th when the SSL Season 2 seeds and format were announced, just 3 days after his championship. Maru started the year at 21.27% on November 17th, and quickly passed 50% on Dec 15th when he qualified for GSL and never went back. Maru's highest placements are a 1st in SSL S1, and a 2nd in IEM Taipei, but he had many other strong placements. Even without the 2000 points from his SSL win, he would've had 4050 WCS Points, more than the final #11 seed Polt. In SSL he got a 1st place for 2000 WCS Points, an 8th place for 600 WCS Points, and a 12th place for 400 WCS Points. In GSL he got a 12th place for 400 points, 8th place for 600 points, and a 4th place for 900 points. And from WCS Partner tournaments, he got 500 points for his 2nd place at IEM Taipei, 400 at the IEM World Championships for an 8th place, and 250 points for an 8th place in KeSPA Cup 2. I'm gonna sprinkle in some Youtube videos from SC2HL where I can, cause they're awesome. November 2014 - From 21.27% to 22.57%, 0 WCS Points to 0, 1,050 Median Points to 1,350 Maru was not qualified for the Hot6ix Cup, so his Blizzcon Chances started off relatively low at 21.27% on November 17th. December 2014 - From 19.73% to 54.66%, 0 WCS Points to 450, 1,250 Median Points to 2,725 Qualifying for SSL S1 took him from 19.59% to 34.6%. Then he qualified for GSL S1 going to 50.45%. Because of Maru's consistency, he did not need to qualify for SSL or GSL again for the rest of the year. When he beat Jim in SSL S1 Challenge, he went up to 61.17%. January 2015 - From 61.32% to 83.75%, 450 WCS Points to 1,025, 3,000 Median Points to 4,125 Adding IEM Taipei with Maru confirmed to attend brought him to 73.39%. In his GSL S1 Ro32 group he beat Hack, lost to Parting, and beat First, bringing to 75.14%. At IEM Taipei he beat TRUE, Hydra, herO, and Soulkey, losing to only Parting in the ro16 and Life in an epic 4-3 finals for a 2nd place finish on February 1st, going up to 84.7%. + Show Spoiler [Maru vs Life Finals highlights] + SC2HL didn't have a video for this so it's kind of a long video, but what else would you expect from these 2 players. February 2015 - From 85.83% to 98.42%, 1,150 WCS Points to 1,850, 4,225 Median Points to 5,275 In SSL S1 ro16 he lost to Dream, and then beat TY and Dark, going up to 93.77%. On the 11th I added IEM Katowice, with Maru being invited he went to 96.72%. In the SSL quarterfinals Maru beat Leenock, going up to 99.44%. In the GSL ro16 he beat Parting and then lost to herO and Parting, taking him down to 98.6%. + Show Spoiler [Maru vs herO base trade] + March 2015 - From 98.41% to 100%, 1,850 WCS Points to 3,650, 5,275 Median Points to 5,725 In the SSL semifinals, Maru beat Stats, going up to 99.74%. + Show Spoiler [Maru drops Stats] + At IEM Katowice, Maru beat Patience in the ro16, but then lost to Dark in the quarterfinals, putting him at 99.91%. On March 22nd, Maru took his only championship this year, beating Dream in the SSL S1 finals, putting Maru at 99.99% and 3350 WCS Points. That's more WCS Points than the final #15 seed, Rogue, who just happens to be Maru's first opponent for the WCS Global Finals. On the 25th, Maru went up to 100% when the SSL S2 format was announced and Maru went from 3350 WCS Points up to 3650. April 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 3,650 WCS Points to 3,975, 5,975 Median Points to 6,650 In April, Maru beat Billowy to advance to Code S, and in his SSL S2 ro16 group he beat Hurricane and Zest, bringing him up to 4100 WCS Points. On April 28th when I set the KeSPA Cup 1 bracket, I mistankenly took away 125 points for losing in the first round. This was fixed on July 8th when it was noticed. May 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 3,975 WCS Points to 4,525, 6,650 Median Points to 6,400 In May, in the GSL S2 ro32, Maru beat Byul and TY, putting Maru at 4300 WCS Points (listed below as 4175 due to the bug). Then he lost to herO in the SSL S2 quarterfinals, then beat Bomber and Myungsik in the GSL ro16, going up to 4300 WCS Points. June 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 4,525 WCS Points to 4,525, 6,400 Median Points to 5,900 Maru lost to Rain in the GSL S2 quarterfinals. July 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 4,525 WCS Points to 5,250, 5,900 Median Points to 5,575 Maru beat Sora in SSL S3 Challenge, going up to 4900 WCS Points. On the 8th I fixed the bug with the KeSPA Cup 1 ro16. In the KeSPA Cup 2 ro16, Maru beat Impact, and then lost to Dream in the quarterfinals, bringing Maru up to 5150 WCS Points. In his SSL S3 ro16 group, Maru lost to Zest, beat Stats, and then lost to Zest again. August 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 5,250 WCS Points to 5,450, 5,550 Median Points to 5,750 Maru won his GSL S3 ro32 group by beating Classic and Bomber, bringing him up to 5450 WCS Points. + Show Spoiler [Maru vs Classic] + September 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 5,450 WCS Points to 6,050, 5,750 Median Points to 6,050 In the GSL S3 ro16, Maru beat hero and then Classic again, going up to 5750 WCS Points. Beating Rogue in the quarterfinals took him up to his final 6050 points, and then he lost to Innovation in the semifinals. Maru will once again be facing Rogue in his first match of the WCS Global Finals. He will then go on to face the winner of Dream vs Hydra in the quarterfinals at Blizzcon, and is likely to face a Protoss in the semifinals. + Show Spoiler [Stats Dump] + November 2014 - From 21.27% to 22.57%, 0 WCS Points to 0, 1,050 Median Points to 1,350 Chances November WCS Points November (the blue line is Maru's WCS Points, the black line is his median points) Nov 17 - #3 Seed, 5850 WCS Points. Facing sOs in the WCS Global Finals Round of 16. WCS match record - Total: 50-18, vsT: 18-6, vsZ: 17-7, vsP: 15-5 Parting was the 4th player to hit 100%, doing so by winning DreamHack Tours over Gumiho on May 9th. Parting passed the 50% mark when he qualified for SSL and never fell below it again, since by the time he lost in SSL he had already qualified for GSL. In GSL Parting got a 2nd place for 1250 WCS Points, an 8th place for 600 points, and a 16th place for 300 points along with his Parting award for 10 consecutive seasons of top 16 in GSL. In SSL he got a 32nd place for no points in season 1, a 12th place for 400 points, and he did not qualify for season 3. For WCS Partner tournaments, Parting got 250 points from 8th place at Hot6ix Cup, 375 from his 4th place at IEM Taipei, 300 from winning Gfinity 1, 300 from winning Copenhagen Games, 750 from winning DreamHack Tours, 300 from winning 3rd Hong Kong Esports Tournament, 500 from a 2nd place in IEM Shenzhen, 150 from a 4th place in 4Gamers, and 375 from 4th place at MSI Masters. That's 3300 WCS Points from WCS Partners, and 2550 from GSL/SSL. Even without his 2nd place in GSL he'd still be at 4600 WCS Points, still more than the current #8 seed Innovation (Innovation could go up with his finals match vs Byul). In fact he would've qualified ahead of Fantasy/Hyun even without any points from GSL/SSL, and even if you take away his 250 points from Hot6ix Cup on top of that. November 2014 - From 43.89% to 47.64%, 0 WCS Points to 250, 1,725 Median Points to 2,250 Parting started up at 43.89%, partly because he was invited into the Hot6ix Cup. When Parting lost his Hot6ix group to Bbyong and Zest, only beating Terminator, he went from 52.18% down to 43.44%. Then Rain forfeited his spot, with Parting as his replacement he went back up to 50.47%. December 2014 - From 37.17% to 58.05%, 250 WCS Points to 400, 1,875 Median Points to 2,875 Parting wasn't able to do much with Rain's spot though, and he lost to his old rival MarineKing in the quarterfinals, falling down to 37.17%. When he qualified for SSL, with an easy 2-0 rematch over MarineKing, he went up to 58.13%. And then his GSL qualification, over Rogue and soO, took him up to 77.08%. In SSL Challenge, Parting lost to Dark and went down to 57.54%. January 2015 - From 55.73% to 81.3%, 400 WCS Points to 975, 2,800 Median Points to 3,975 Parting was invited to IEM Taipei, going up to 65.82%. Parting advanced from his GSL ro32 group beating First and Maru, now up to 73.37%. Then at IEM Taipei, he advanced from the ro16 by beating Hydra and Maru again, up to 77.95%. In the IEM Taipei quarterfinals, he beat Classic and went up to 81.3%, and then in the semifinals he lost to Life and went back down to 74.82%. + Show Spoiler [Parting vs Classic] + February 2015 - From 74.82% to 77.42%, 975 WCS Points to 1,375, 3,625 Median Points to 3,625 At the end of February, Parting lost to Maru in GSL S1 ro16, but then came back beating MC and Maru, going from 63.96% to 74.86%. March 2015 - From 77.43% to 99.35%, 1,375 WCS Points to 2,375, 3,625 Median Points to 5,425 In the GSL quarterfinals, Parting beat Solar 3-2, going up to 89.73%. Then Parting beat the surprise semifinalist, MMA, 4-1, bringing Parting to 95.18% Blizzcon Chances. Parting lost in a tense finals against Life 3-4, going back down to 92.51%. On the 26th, Parting qualified for SSL S2, bringing him up to 96.32%. At Gfinity Spring, Parting won the tournament while going undefeated, beating TRUE, Snute, Soulkey, Rain, and Hydra, with a 13-4 map score total. This brought him up to 98.91%. April 2015 - From 99.75% to 99.95%, 2,325 WCS Points to 3,225, 5,750 Median Points to 5,450 Parting's seeding into KeSPA Cup 1 brought him up to 99.75%. In Copenhagen Spring, Parting won another tournament going undefeated. This time with a 17-1 map score beating PappiJoe, Ryung, Targa, SuperNova, elfi, Ryung again, and then Fantasy in the finals, with the only map dropped being to Ryung in the semifinals. This makes another trophy and another 300 WCS Points in less than a week since he won Gfinity, and brought him up to 99.87% Blizzcon Chances. For Parting's SSL S2 "Challenge" match, he beat MacSed 3-0, going up to 99.95%. As before in the Maru retrospective, on April 28th I introducted the bug with KeSPA Cup 1 that subtracted extra WCS Points from the first round losers. Parting's chances were high enough that this did not have a huge effect on him, bringing him down to 99.83%. In his GSL ro32 group, Parting beat Ragnarok, lost to Myungsik, then beat Dark. This brought him up to 99.97% and 3225 WCS Points (showed as 3000 due to the KeSPA Cup bug). + Show Spoiler [Parting losing crazy game to Myungsik] + In SSL Parting lost his ro16 PvP group, losing to herO, beating Dear, and then losing to herO again. This brought him down to 99.95% and 3225 WCS Points. May 2015 - From 99.94% to 100%, 3,225 WCS Points to 4,475, 5,450 Median Points to 6,775 Parting lost to Soulkey in the first round of KeSPA Cup 1 2-3. Due to a bug that mixed up Gfinity Spring 1 and 2, Parting went up to 99.99% and 3400 WCS Points, when it should've been 3225 WCS Points. At DreamHack Tours, Parting again went undefeated beating White-Ra, uThermal, Zanster, Mana, Rain, Hyun, and then Gumiho in the finals, for a total 17-3 map score. This brought Parting up to 100% and 3975 WCS Points. + Show Spoiler [Parting at DreamHack Tours] + Back in GSL for the ro16, Parting beat Gumiho and Rogue, bringing him up to 4400 WCS Points. In the 3rd Hong Kong Esports Tournament, Parting beat cheetos in the ro16, and Bistork in the quarterfinals, going up to 4475 WCS Points. June 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 4,475 WCS Points to 4,625, 6,775 Median Points to 5,675 In the GSL S2 quarterfinals, Parting lost a close 2-3 to Byul, staying at 4475 WCS Points. Then in the 3rd Hong Kong Esports Tournament, Parting beat San in the semifinals and Leenock in the finals, going up to 4625 WCS Points. July 2015 - From 100% to 100%, 4,625 WCS Points to 5,125, 5,675 Median Points to 5,625 Early in July I fixed the bugs with KeSPA Cup 1 and Gfinity, putting Parting back at his proper 4625 WCS Points. At IEM Shenzhen Parting Kelazhur, XY, uThermal, and TY, then lost to Classic in the finals. This put Parting at 5125 WCS Points. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Biggest Surprises of WCS 2015 Thursday, Oct 01 5:25pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (Sim #4857) (This is a cross post of my article on Blizzard's WCS Website) If you didn't read my previous articles, these stats are calculated by WCS Predictor, which simulates every match in every tournament that gives WCS Points millions of times. Blizzcon Chances are the chances to qualify in the top 16 for Blizzcon, as rated by WCS Predictor. Tied at DreamHack At DreamHack Stockholm, in the round of 16, we had Fantasy vs Hyun. Both players flew to the event to pick up their last WCS Points and secure their Blizzcon Chances. If Fantasy lost then he would be knocked down to just 36.09% Blizzcon Chances; if Fantasy lost and Dark had won his match, then Fantasy would've been down to 0%. If Hyun lost then he'd have been knocked down to 0% as he needed at least a 2nd place. Hyun getting a 2nd place would tie him with Fantasy, but Dark could still pass them, and a 1st place would've put Hyun at 100%. People have been counting out Hyun all year long, saying he only made it previously by competing in the easier WCS America. He made the SSL round of 16 twice this year, but still most of his points came from strong performances in international tournaments. Then Hyun defeated Fantasy 2-0, showing how much he wanted to make to Blizzcon. Dark lost to Leenock, and sOs beat Harstem, meaning only Fantasy and Hyun had uncertain Blizzcon Chances. Against Rain, again people counted out Hyun, until he won 3-1. Hyun was facing Reality in the semifinals. Fantasy knew that Hyun would tie him with a 2nd place, and knock him out of the WCS Global Finals if he got 1st place. Hyun again won 3-1. Hyun's killing spree was ended in the finals by Solar with a 3-1 score. Now both Hyun and Fantasy can only practice as hype builds for their tie breaker match to determine who goes to the WCS Global Finals and who watches from home. WCS Global Finals Bracket Here is how the bracket looks showing all the possible players for each slot. The winner of the Hyun vs Fantasy tie breaker will face herO. The GSL finals between Innovation and Byul determines the rest. If Byul beats Innovation, then Byul faces Lilbow, Innovation faces Classic, and Life faces Zest. If Innovation beats Byul, then Byul faces Classic, Innovation faces Zest, and Life faces Lilbow. Innovation is currently 27-14 in WCS matches this year; 9-3 vs Zerg, 7-4 vs Terran, and 11-7 vs Protoss; making his vs Zerg his strongest matchup as usual. Byul is currently 24-9 in WCS matches this year; with an incredible 8-1 vs Terran, 4-2 vs Zerg, and 12-6 vs Protoss; making his vs Terran his strongest matchup. This is also a rematch from the SSL quarterfinals on August 20th where Byul kept his composure to barely win 3-2 over Innovation's mech on Terraform.
