So there will be a three-mission prologue released for free prior to Legacy of the Void's release.
We will be making Whispers of Oblivion available to all players before the game’s release, but prior to that, we will be providing early access to the Prologue missions with pre-purchase of the game. Look for more details sometime in July.
More details from Blizzard coming in July.
Just thought some people might like to know. I know I enjoy at least the gameplay of these things even if the plot and characters make me wish I was temporarily deaf and blind.
Edit: Oh there is a video I can embed.
Edit2: Some people don't seem to understand that you don't have to pay any money to play this, however if you pre-order you get it sooner. The definition of free is no monetary cost, we don't know the "time cost" yet.

Not as hyped as i was for HotS but actually (!) thankful for blizz doing some story related work to boost preorders instead of some cheap ass gimmicks Guess it's bye to the CE lol. As much as i dislike the concept of the prophecy it's good that they try to at least bridge the gap without force-mentioning all the info via some side dialogue lol
Ah cool to hear some more about LoTV! Looking forward to the campaign! Though the plot might be a bit cheesy at times, I really enjoy the missions and beautiful cutscenes!
Bad blizzard is bad! Even if I don't like where they are going with the multiplayer, I might end up buying LotV even if it is just for the campaign. Damn me!
Lot's of people I know actually bought WoL (and to a lesser extent HotS) for the single player. Wings of Liberty sold about 5 million units and was one of the fastest selling PC games of the last decade, and a large part of that was people got hyped about Raynor kicking ass again after so many years.

Doubtly free
I updated the post with the full quote. Looks like it will be released to everyone before Legacy is released, but before that it will be released to pre-orderers.

So was I. The campaign was my main reason to buy the game in the first place because I had so many fond memories of SC / SC:BW. Still one of my favorite campaigns to date.

Same, and I hope when you say favorite campaign you mean BW not WoL

Yeah I think blizzard once stated that at least 50% of the buyers do it purely for the campaign.
I loved WoL and HotS campaigns. I do hope LotV is more difficult as HotS was a little too easy.
Absolutely nice to get hyped like this. Can't wait to play these three missions but...
I'm not sure about the thoughts behind releasing a beta of a little three-mission-sneak-peek. Will it be one mission only? Come on :D
Here is my opinion: Of course its PR, that's what those pressconferences are for. There is nothing bad behind this. But to me it looked like Dustin Browder wanted to do Day[9] a favour by showing up on this pressconference to make even more people watch this. And that is realy awesome. Win win.
This first time event has had a natural personality. Gg D9.

Ok this means the standard Blizzard tactic to get money into the back. Buy LOTV 4 months before release > get some missions and a pet in WoW.
Now it clearly works so i have no problem with it and i for one right now am most intrigued by the campaign in LOTV actually and will be buying it for that reason!
Also assume a November release date for this which for once is clever by Blizzard. Release it AFTER WCS/Blizzcon finals have finished so the next Pro League will be able to line up with it as well etc etc etc.
j/k in before September release xD Renamed due to this isn't free yet Will be free "prior" to games release but that could be 1 week before knowing blizzard etc.
