Automatic processes are in you subconsiousness, so you are no aware of them. Sometimes if you do something in automatic mode and try to focus on what you do, you get frozen with no way to go on just start over. This applies to really anything from shoe-laces to bicycling. The advantage is you subconsious does everything faster and more precise if not interrupted.

My subwoofer is under my desk, and I often put my feet on or near it. Often when I get in an intense game I'll subconsciously tense up, and as a result I jam my foot into the subwoofer, but I don't feel it. In really intense games, this goes on for over twenty minutes, numbing my foot. So I'll finish the game, ease up, and then 2 seconds later have pain shoot up from my foot and I'll realize I've been jamming it into my subwoofer again. It happens less now, but in any game I'm concentrating really hard on that last awhile, I'll for sure do it.

Also, if I play long enough I seriously start holding my breath and end up with numb hands after matches.
