I was setting up the dynamic map on our apache2 webserver by following the instructions here: https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki/Setting-up-Dynamic-Map-with-apache2-under-Debian The dynamic map worked fine by visiting the port (www.liquestria.net:8123), but I wanted to make it appear when you go to www.liquestria.net/map/ so that we could integrate it into the site better (and disable port 8123). I couldn't get it to work, however -- all I saw was a black screen. It was clearly not properly linking to the /tiles/ folder in Minecraft's dynmap subfolders, but I couldn't figure out why. The problem is simply that I am an idiot. I knew that good procedure was to not modify the apache2 file 000-defaults.conf directly, but rather make a copy of it and then modify that instead, since 000-defaults.conf is nice to have unmodified in case something breaks. apache vets can see where this is going. So I just made 001-liquestria.conf, modified that according to the tutorial linked above, and then enabled that with sudo a2ensite 001-liquestria.conf ... but I did not disable 000-defaults.conf, which as it turns out loads before 001 due to conflicts. In other words, classic case of ID-10T error, stemming from me not knowing what the fuck I'm doing on apache2. So if you have the same problem, just make a backup of 000-defaults.conf named 000-defaults.bak or whatever, and then modify defaults. Or deactivate 000-defaults, whichever one you like. Just as long as you have it lying around somewhere. There, hopefully someone else looking for a solution to this can find the thread and figure out what's wrong based on the info here. We’re still working on setting stuff up over here in Liquestria, and that includes the website. And when it comes to epic web design, we sure know how to install WordPress. Frankly it’s embarrassing, but I don’t necessarily want to use enjin; it’s a bit limited in how you can make the Minecraft page look. We’d also need to pay money to use the features we want, so instead we’re going cheap. If you’re a web designer or know anyone who would work for cheap, get in touch! Who knows, I might even be able to set up a contact form properly. This is so not my forte. Love, Cane | ||

You can fly around and look at stuff as a guest if you want (that goes for anyone reading this, in fact), but we're still a few days off from being able to semi-open it up to people who want to build stuff or work on projects. Right now the only people with build/modify access are Alicorns who are helping us set up the new game worlds, which are not quite done. As a guest you can fly around, /warp to different places and worlds, and just hang out and chat, but not much else. So if you're looking to actually play, well, we're still some days off from that. | ||

Hi folks! I thought I should get the word out that Liquestria, the TL Ponies Minecraft server, is coming back soon™. We have a great new server in Germany and a shiny new website -- and let me tell you, when it comes to epic web design, we sure know how to install WordPress. For those of you who don't know, Liquestria is a heavily modified and customized survival server with races and classes, multiple worlds, tons of collaborative build projects, and some upcoming expanded PvE content just for fun. It's a multi-year project that's been around since Minecraft 1.0.0. We build stuff! We still have some more work to do before it's ready, but we do need to have a limited test to make sure everything is working properly. Thus, pretty soon™ we want to open it up for testing to TL members, particularly all the fine people in our IRC. (P.S.: If you haven't dropped by our IRC, you should totally drop by our IRC. I am, however, usually pretty good at not being a dick to other people. Now, i might be slightly stupid, but who do i have to PM? On the website it says to PM some "me", but i am not quite certain who that is. Probably Aylear? Furthermore, is there a list of mods that i need for this server (and maybe a guide on installing them, i am usually rather bad at that) to be found somewhere? And maybe an additional list of texture packs and shaders to make stuff look as shiny as in your pictures? That would be very nice. | ||

Even so, I can't believe that I didn't mention this ANYWHERE on the website: No, you don't need to download any mods. We will have an OPTIONAL client pack download later when we start going live which adds some accessibility options, but you can connect to our server with a regular Minecraft client no problem. All of the game-changing mods and plugins happen server-side, and you can access all of our content even if you don't use a client mod pack. The client mods (such as a Macros/Keybind mod, Fly mod, etc) are only there to add ease of use and accessibility to these mods and functions in-game, since ordinarily they require typed commands. For instance, to start flying as a Pegasus you have to type /f or /fly in chat, whereas with the client fly mod you can just hit the F key and get better and more responsive flight controls on top of that. Much simpler, but - again - optional. Land claims are entirely optional. I'll try to clarify. I should probably emphasise that our server works very much like a regular Minecraft survival server. You can play and build and do whatever you like as normal without ever worrying about any of this stuff. Us Alicorns are almost always around to fix things as necessary. For instance, the land claims. Usually, if anything gets broken, or if any griefing happens, we can fix it with a single keystroke, so people don't have to worry. Our application process also deters griefers -- in four years, we've only ever had two very minor instances of people stealing shit or breaking someone else's wall in anger, and we can fix it instantly. However, it might be a few hours before someone comes online who can fix anything, during which your house is still on fire. Thus, for people who'd rather not risk that even on our server, we optionally offer to set up regions for players so that only they can modify or build within their region. Thus, no griefing or destruction could ever happen on your property. That's all this means, and hopefully this is clear. I'll try to clarify this on the website as well -- maybe I gave the impression that this is a big thing that people have to do, when in reality it's just there as personal preference. Anyway, we're still working on the server (and website). We'll have a period very soon where we open it up to TeamLiquid people so that we can test how everything works, and if you want in on that, I'm the person to PM. | ||
