Granted he's played on some of the worst NHL teams around but still, his numbers were just awful.
Uh, no they weren't. His numbers have been perfectly fine aside from his last season in Edmonton. Not only that, but Minnesota haa consistently been one of the best possession teams in the league all season as well as one of the best shot suppression and shot taking teams. They've also been top half in scoring all year. Every reliable stat points to the fact that this is a quality, talented team that has had their season nearly ruined by absolutely awful goaltending.

There's little reason to think he's anything other than maybe league average though. His SV% was pretty much always right around league average in Edmonton but his gaa was a little high (which usually indicates an ok goalie who faces a lot of shots due to a bad team). it's not really conclusive but I certainly expect his sv% to dip below .920 as he plays more.
then again, league average goaltending was like the major hurdle the isles needed to clear and they turned into a good team due to that. Also getting real defensemen and having lots of young guys pull through, but just getting average goaltending was the main reason they improved

Yea, but like the Isles, if the Wild had merely average goaltending all year, they'd probably be in the #2 or #3 spot in the Central right now.

How is Dale Weise doing well on the first line for Montreal right now? I love him but I was really pissed at Therrien for putting him on the first line, but he keeps producing and it's making me scratch my head trying to figure it out. Either way, Thanks Vancouver!

Lundquist is out until playoffs?

damn. Poor guy.
McDavid apparently said being a Maple Leaf would be a 'dream come true' which just makes me wonder, do young prospect guys not pay attention to the NHL? Being picked by Toronto or Edmonton -- or really any Canadian team except of maybe Montreal because they are actually consistently competent -- puts you under a microscope while throwing you into a poorly managed, poorly coached team.

Oilers won their first road game in over 3 months tonight. 3 MONTHS!!!!!

Calgary would be a decent choice I think, and not even just cause I like that team.

Considering the fucking kid is from the GTA? Why would he say otherwise especially when Toronto is one of the most popular and hated teams in hockey? Makes perfect sense to me and you can say the media attention makes it hard all you want; however, some players rise up to the occasion and do exceptionally well under the pressure of playing under their home team.
Playing for any Canadian team is no different. The media attention is a feeding frenzy no matter where you go north of the border.

That's what we call Lindros syndrome.

Just ask Mats Sundin how it felt to play with guys like Steve Thomas, Jonus Hoglund, etc. lol.

watching an idiot coach saddle a good player with shit pluggers is one of my top hockey pet peeves. Renney did that shit towards the end of his tenure with the Rangers (but to be fair his team did lack talent for the most part). The only coaches that do this shit are desperate people or bad coaches. You would think it would be common sense that you want to put your best offense players in optimal positions but then again zone starts did not become a commonly accepted *thing* until the past decade or so. You obviously had some coaches doing it way before it turned into something that everyone but the very worst coaches do but yeah
Remember when Oates stapled jay Fuckin Beagle to Ovechknin? Yeesh. That one really makes no sense. At least with Wiese you can try to claim he's a tough dude who will scare people out of corners. Beagle fuckin sucks, is not tough, isn't a particularly good skater.

Wow Kane and Bogosian to Buffalo for Stafford, Myers and a first round pick. A couple of prospects on each side also thrown in for good measure.
Gotta suck for Bogosian, going from a team with a fighting chance at the playoffs to Buffalo...

Just like all those players on Toronto rose up under the pressure in the last...10 years right? Dont pull a Cherry. The way it works is this: over hyped kid is treated like Jesus, shows up to a team unprepared to develop or shelter him, plays 20 minutes against grown ups, fails to pick up good habits because there is no one to pick them up from, becomes disillusioned and produces 50-60 points for a couple years, media turns on him and his career is ruined.
The Jets sent Kane, Zach Bogosian and unsigned goaltending prospect Jason Kasdorf to Buffalo for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, prospects Brendan Lemieux and Joel Armia and a 2015 first-round draft pick. This is the Sabers rebuilding, by giving away their first round draft pick ?? Replacing one highly drafted but never reaching his potential defenseman for another??

You're comparing Connor McDavid to guys like Lindros who was long out of his prime and injury prone? Or Clarkson? That's kind of ridiculous don't you think. I wouldn't use such players in the same breath and it's been ages that Toronto has had anyone who grew up around this area or growing up as a Leafs fan that is even in the same category as him. This is by no means a Don Cherry moment lol. Also the Leaf's and their farm system have a ridiculously bad record when it comes down to dealing (or should I say dealing away prospects), so this would be completely new territory altogether. Anyway, none of this matters because just like Stamkos the Leafs will never get anywhere near Connor McDavid.

i'll die and hang up my leafs banner if leafs decide to draft eichel with the first pick lol

The Sabres have 3 first round picks and get to pick which one they're sending to the Jets. So no, they aren't passing on their chance to get McDavid.
