wow you guys. nobody died. it was just Naniwa being put into the wrong bowl and the controversial "CIS" assignment. It sounds like you've never made mistakes before.
It IS really unprofessional though.
How hard is it to get this right?
How much money is in all of eSports? How much money does the NFL generate per year?
Have you seen any of the ridiculously incompetent crap that has gone down this year in one of the most profitable leagues in the world?
THe NFL is doing something a little more complicated than drawing names from a bowl though.
Though I agree that there are a lot of incompetent people everywhere.
You can just tell that the Sc2 community has it's blood flowing from all the recent drama. This is what we were missing for so long!!
I do wonder how they managed to mess it up. Even then, though. I wouldn't have considered it at all a big deal. It was still very well distributed. I think the real reason for the redraw is that they saw Firecake with 3 protoss and knew that just wouldn't work.

They made a mistake, and now they are fixing it. I think thats as professional as it gets.

Can't happen, though. Only one NA player can be in one group...
Where did you get that? In op "there can be a maximum of 2 players from the same region in one group."
This rule is there specially for the EU players, becouse there are more than 8 of them. Since there is 8 NA players and 8 groups, there will be 1 drawing basket for NA players, so they can't be in group with each other...

Draw 8 America players to each group Draw 8 Europe players to each group Draw 4 China players to US studio groups Draw 4 Europe players to EU studio groups Draw 4 Latin America/SEA/Taiwan players to EU studio groups Mix 4 remaining players together (2 EU and 2 LA/SEA/TW players left) Draw 4 remaining players to US studio groups Then shuffle the 4 names in each group and draw for opening matchups within the group.

pretty hard if you do something new and don't have everything ready even. It would be a surprise if everything went smooth on the first try, often you don't notice something went wrong, but in esport its rather open since alot of people are involved and love twitter.

Seriously, if the people who did the drawing knew the rules how the drawing were to be made, there shouldnt have been a problem. Even if you do something for the first time, following instructions shouldn't be a problem for an adult.
ESL admins are so incompetent. More than not broadcasting draws, everybody finds the different WCS draws very strange.
Now they are so bad that they made mistake and want to redraw it ! HA HA SO PRO !
Please consider that hazard is important in a draw (even if we don't know how your draws are made), please consider the hazard as a key in the main SC2 competition and assume. Don't draw again and let the players play.
Can you imagine FIFA redraw a World Cup ? No. Be professionnal now.
Redrawing is preventing this competition from the fair hazard and will make all the players mad about the new draw...

This sounds like a good system. I hope they craft something similar and just follow it point by point to avoid confusion.
But sometimes it's difficult to remember who is from which region and what were the regions to begin with. I know I've done this kind of mistake too in a group draw.
Edit: I think it's great that they are doing a redraw. I guess many people would not be calling them unprofessional if it was not for the redraw. Realizing mistakes and correcting them even if it makes you look bad is professional conduct.

Rather fix their mistake than let it be and have somebody get fucked over by it.
The whole lack of professionalism this season, from stuff like this to still having no solid source we can refer to for rules, has me pretty bummed out about Blizzard's #dedication to Starcraft. Hopefully things get better as the year goes on.

They would probably have to redraw too. But I just can't imagine, they would fuck up this badly...

Since you posted roughly the same thing in the other thread I'll do the same answer :
Isn't redrawing pretty standard and professional when the drawing is flawed and has to be modified post-drawing, meaning it does not totally respect the luck/randomness factor? FIFA would totally redraw a World Cup if there was a flaw as major as one team being in the wrong bowl (assuming it goes public ofc). The only difference is that FIFA would have probably done the redraw immediatly or after a very short delay, not two days after (and would have announced it immediately, not one day after lol).

I'm not one to jump down anyone's throat, not even Blizzard's, when they mess up, but this *is* unprofessional. Really how hard is it to get something like this right? It's not like ESL, or Blizzard, are little start-ups who are organizing something like this for the first time. It's not even the first time a redraw has to happen either. I love the new format, but I really hope they get their shit in order for the next season.
